Agreed! George bought this DAC from me. As I'm sure everyone knows, deal with George with full confidence.

Some reviews of the DAC to help George sell this nice piece of equipment.

EDIT: I should mention that the reviews below are for the DAC 1. George is selling the DAC 1.1 which has some upgrades/improvements from the DAC1. Most notably the 1.1 has the upgraded power supply that is/was used in the Bel Canto DAC2.

Why has it gone through 2 members? What didn't you guys like, or decide to do differently?

I'm interested in giving it a listen, you want paypal or a check George?

    Cheers,
    Russ

I am sure this has been bandied about many times, but how do you know when buying an outboard DAC will truly make a difference short of trying it out? Any rule of thumb? I have a pretty good NAD unit. Is a DAC pissing money in this case? I fully realize there is stuff that blows my NAD away.

Wes and I had great difficulty detecting any difference between the Bel Canto DAC2 and Benchmark DAC1. This is a top-notch DAC. Short of getting into a multi-thousand dollar unit, 99.9% would be satisfied with its performance.

I enjoyed my time with it. It's a very smooth, effortless sounding unit, less "digital" than the Arcam (which I think you also own).

I only sold it to raise funds for a bathroom remodel to my house last winter. I'm now trying another DAC in it's price range.

George, I'm going to have to pass - something I was expecting, I am now not. If it's still around in a couple weeks, I'm game.
