Man, what a deal....I'm picking up a pair of SDA 1's that are probly a 9.5 out of 10 on speaker looks and about an 8 on cabinets. How does $200 a pair sound? I'm thrilled! Look forward to talking with you guys. Always nice to know other Audio fanatics. I had a pair of these back in high school on a good old Technics integrated amp and a Technics turntable. Now that I'm rebuilding my 2-channel system, life will be even better! Now I have a Carver M-1.0t and a Carver C-1 Pre-Amp. Just gotta get another turntable and CD player for this room. Man, my office will be a rockin! I just have to get the interconnect cable for them. :)

Thanks! Looking forward to enjoying some audio again! I have about 300 albums that are going to make their grand appearance again! My wife and kids will hate this! Haha. Oh well...they have the home theater with the NAD equipment, Sunfire sub and Canton speakers. I have a curious observation. The SDA1's I am getting have the 2 tweeters mounted vertically on the cabinet (like SDA1B) but the tag on the back says SDA1. The other SDA1's I have seen have the 2 tweeters mounted side by side above the woofers. Were there running changes?

There were 4 models labeled SDA 1. You have either the 1B's or 1C's. Does the interconnect socket on yours have two slots or one hole/one slot?

It has the one hole/one slot. So somewhere within the forum, do they talk about these different cables? I like reading that kind of stuff!

You have the 1C's. Call Polk, ask them nicely to send you a copy of the owners manual. As for other info, use the search function, there's tons of info in here.

1Cs for $200. I'd say you stole them, even without the IC.

    Good Luck with them.

It's worth the 400 mile round trip for them, I'd say. I'm happy to have another pair of SDA's! Man, I've already had a few late nights reading all the cool posts on here. I can't want. I guess my main concern is that they are going to be in a fairly small room (my office) which is about 12 X 11 (I know, I know). My living room is 20 X 23 but there is no room because of the H/T, layout, etc. I know that will be a downfall but there should still be enjoyment in them. Next house will hopefully have a room about the garage I can redo for me! hehe

I think I am confusing myself on this interconnect cable. Mine has the pin/slot plug on them. Is it correct in saying that you have to have this plug for the "SDA" to work? I have searched different things on building a cable (which is no biggie) but does the one I need have some sort of transformer inline or is that something for non-common ground amps? I hope I'm not being a pain to everyone!

By the way...a quick history on me so the name "avguy" makes sense. If it already does, I'm amongst friends already! I've been in the electronics industry now for about 26 years. Started out at a Western Auto store doing car stereo (8 tracks) and have worked at various home and/or car A/V stores up till about 2001. I'm an electronics rep now for various companies including Canton, Sunfire, Elan, NAD, PSB, Onkyo/Integra/Integra Research and some other lines. Have always loved 2-channel and always will. Thus the reason for not being able to pass up the deal on these speakers.

Thanks for your help and recommendations and for this being such a cool site. My wife thinks I'm crazy at times with my hobbies but hey, it's a safe hobby overall! ha

The slot plug doesn't do anything I don't think. I have SDA 2B's with a pib blade interconnect and I use a regular RCA cable to just connect the pin sockets. I think doro told me I could do this? Maybe not but the other driver becomes active when I do this so it's working :)

That is correct, you must use one version of the interconnect cable to have the SDA signal working and in turn, have all the mid-drivers work.

The regular pin/blade cable uses the pin wire to carry the signal, the blade is only for support. The AI-1 (isolation transformer) cable for non-common ground amps uses both wires, so both the pin and blade carry a signal.

Order a copy of the owners manual before hooking up your speakers, so you will know the right and wrong way to do things. If you have any doubt as to whether your amp is common ground or not, now is the time to find out.

Of course I get discounts! haha Funny, I have access to all this new stuff and I still like the older. Oh well...I grew up on it. I will say that the Canton speakers I rep are some darn good sounding speakers...especially for a German made with their metal dome tweeter (different totally from everyone else). Gotta like it to sell it! It pays the bills....haha.

I have dealt with the marketing firm you are repping for. Very nice people. I am slowly(on my end) working to get set up with your firm. There are several lines I'll probably add in the long run.

Enjoy your SDA's. I recenltly passed mine up to my father-in-law for his enjoyment so I could make room for our newest baby.

Originally from the northwestern part of OK, where I still claim to be from. My parents live between Elk City and Woodward. Only 300 people in the town, if you include the cows on the outskirts.

Very few A/V businesses around that part of the country. My dad got me into electronics, and I've progressed to the point of wanting to do it full time.

You know, I was kind of thinking the same thing myself. It looked too good to be true. I even emailed him from the actual web page for eh speakers and he asked what I was wanting a price on! Go figure....

Congrats on you SDA's. When you get the cable connected you better have you neck muscles quite loose because you will be turning your head very fast when you hear a telephone ringing from the side of you couch where there is no phone while watching movies. Or you get up to open the door because you swear that somebody just knocked. Enjoy!
