unofficial word on RTi, etc

RTi is not being discontinued. It is not being replaced by LSi.
Every so often in the life of a product, we will make (small) changes, either cosmetically or technically. You benefit, because retailers will usually lower the price (not always a good indicator that change is coming, but sometimes...) and make the current product an even better value. There is absolutely nothing "wrong" with current RTi product. In fact, if I were you, I'd be leaping to grab some of these great deals on the stuff. They are great speakers (I love my RT55i's). And they are not going away.
It's dangerous for me to comment on this stuff because there's a risk that you all will think, "Well, I won't buy the current crop, I'll just wait till the next line up comes out." That could be a long wait. Product life cycles are measured in years.
If you're thinking of grabbing a great RTi deal, I'd go ahead and do it. That RT25i review made all of us here jump for joy, and that product is not going to disappear any time soon. The product is not going to change or disappear anytime soon. Relax. Enjoy.
LSi Series is a completely different line of high performance, beautifully designed and finished high-end technology speakers featuring improved driver design, an incredible ring-radiating tweeter, and super looks. We're really excited about them because they hark back to what Matt Polk originally envisioned: elite audiophile performance speakers for everyone else (you know, US).
LSi's will probably be priced a little higher, and distributed a little more exclusively, than the RTi line. But again, as the reviews have said, RTi is nothing to be ashamed of!

....but cool anyway...
Wendi and I were at a friends house the other day who had some newer JBL's and even the oblivious to audio Wendi remarked at how much better our Polk's sound. That is a true endorsement.

I, too, have heard some of the new JBLs at some guy's house I was at recently. I didn't say anything, but I much prefer the warmth and clarity of my RT55i's. They sound so much more natural, so much more "live." And I know I'm biased, but I was happy to get home to my own Polks.
Hee hee.
No spare 55s sitting around here, altho stands are here in the webstore, but I'm hearing that RTi's are priced right out there in retail-land.
Thanks for understanding my post here, and for being Polk fans. This is the coolest part of working for this company: the fact that what we do sometimes makes people happy.

I thought the JBL's were very hollow sounding.......
You wouldn't happen to have a spare pair of RT7's hanging around, would you? Now those I would be interested in.....

......uh, huh. That's right.
Between Wendi and that fat, red pimp suit wearing ****, someone better fess up a pair of LS9i's or there will be no joy in Charleston this holiday season.....

When will we see the LSi line. Of primary importance to me is how the speaker looks NOT how it sounds. (I know all polk sounds great!)

So in the lsi final.doc file you let us have had prices around 2x that of the RT line. Is that "a little higher"
LSi25 LSi15 LSi9 LSi7
$1499 ea.$869 ea. $519 ea. $399 ea. -
....and cash plays a HUGE factor in all this. Since I am one of those schmucks that has to use one setup for HT and HS, I wonder how well the LSi's will match with my current center and rears.
I am SURE that Polk has already taken this into consideration and they probably will match well but if they don't, I don't see the benefit for me to upgrade. I would rather pursue (which is a better idea anyway) improving my power sources.....
