well, I installed windows vista beta 2 on a second hard drive. looks pretty cool. But the killer for my fathers day was my main hard drive that hass all of our family pics for the last 2.75 years smoked. It has all of the pics from whem my first son was born to present. A chip on the bottom of my drive burt out, and the warrenty for the drive was up as ofmarch of last year. Hope I can get it fixed. anyways the rest of the day was pretty crappy to that was just the last nail in the coffin:confused:

Notice I didn't say, "there's HOPE out there", I said there's a SOLUTION out there.

I was thinking about $200 worse case, and googled a bunch of hard drive data recovery companies.

    http://www.nationwidedatarecovery.com/p1o/ $99
http://www.drivesavers.com/ Have to call for a quote.

    Etc, etc.

Your local Compusa can do hard drive recoveries, but I wouldn't trust them with my HD if I were you.

$100 +/- isn't that much to pay to get 3 years of family pics back. And next time: write them files to a CD/DVD/external HD.
