I was also wondering what it was a while ago when I heard it was being released. I think I eventually found the info on the UK version of Amazon.com.

I bought it today, and it has

    Stereo Track
    DD 5.1 448 Kbps
DD 5.1 640 Kbps (Which unfortunately my set up did not decode)

So I am listening to DSOTM in DD, one note as it was shot in 4:3 (1.33:1), it doesn't do the video any justice if you stretch the film, as w/ a lot of the shots in the concert you will find a lot of the stage set is "circular" and it got a bit annoying seeing it oval. So I made a quick switch on my DVD player to output the 4:3 video in its native format. I do have the black lines, but everthing looks as it should and not distorted.

The sound quality is amazing, very good use of the surrounds. The sound is enveloping.

The video is good, but not great you will see some "noise" in the video transfer. It is apparent that they put a lot more time in the DVD's audio than they did in the video. I am not saying that the video is a slouch job, it is good, but the audio is great.

I hope they make an HD or Blue Ray disc on this one.

    Enjoy the show..

    Scott

dont know how it would be labeled new Floyd..all memberss have been in the band since Syd Barret left..I always considered Waters vocals weak compared to Gilmour..Id be hard pressed to notice him gone on any performance that did not feature his singing

That's your opinion. I liked Roger Waters, as he's always been the creative force in that band post-Barrett. Gilmour is very talented, but to my ears his music post Waters could never measure up. Pink Floyd died for me when Waters left. It's too bad those two couldn't get over themselves sooner. These are just my opinions. :D

As I stated there is an audio select for this DVD as DD 5.1 640K, I did a quick search on this and it referred to as Dolby Digital Plus, (not to be confused w/ DD HD), does anyone know if this is a function that your DVD player must decode, or the preamp/receiver? Or both?

understood..the thing about Pulse though is its mostly made up of Waters era tunes and his absence is not noticable in the performance. I personally did not liek most of Floyds stuff after Animals anyway. I always thought The Wall was thier weakest (with the exception of The Final Cut)

You will be floored by disc 2. The entire DSOTM, you'll know what I am talking about w/ the usage of the surround speakers.

I saw them during this same tour back in 1994. WOW, does this DVD bring back great memories of the best concert I ever saw! I remember most of the same lighting and special effects were used when I saw it at RFK Stadium in DC. I also remember the Rolling Stones toured that same year and said their stage setup and effects were going to beat out Floyd's. Yeah right! The Stones were a big letdown to me.

The opening track, Shine on you Crazy Diamond sounds phenominal!

    Get this DVD and enjoy!
    No excuses!

I believe that is next on their agenda if I remeber correctly. In fact I think I heard something about the fact that they were thinking about releaseing DSOT before pulse...so it must be in some type of production stage.

Gilmour's guitar IS the sound of the band. I like Roger Waters, but the Floyd sound is that guitar work. I'll take him over Roger, although I wish David would give it up and tour with the band again. They owe it to the fans. Ideally, they would just hate each other, make lots of money, and bring Roger along. They didn't sound so hot at Live Aid this past year...
