For those of you who know and love Steak 'n Shake, here's the secret to the chilli-3 ways:

Make some chilli and spaghetti noodles (I like Hormel w/beans). When it's done, put some in your bowl, pour a mound of catsup on top (about 2 tblspns) and a couple drops of Worchestershire. Stir it up.....BANG! Chilli-3 ways.

Taste exactly like Steak 'n Shakes.

I love getting a double cheeseburger with fries and a milkshake (or better yet a vanilla malt) from Steak 'n Shake, but I've never heard of chilli-3 ways. Is that just like their regular chilli? I've had that, and it is actually pretty good (I don't normally like chilli or anything resembling soup).

I also like to put their little octagonal crackers in my shake! :p

You put the crackers in your milkshake??? Never heard of that. I grew up on Steak 'n Shake in St. Louis. They don't have any in Washington DC.
Chili 3 ways is just that. Noodles (1), sauce (2) and chili (3).
Steve, I am going to try your receipe for Chili 3 ways this week. I can't wait!

We have them here in Pittsburgh. Their shakes are great! The strawberry shake is made with fresh fruit. It's great especially this time of year when strawberries are in season.

I like the Cincinnati chili. Get it 3, 4, 5 or 6 way. Love those toppings all over a plate of spaghetti.

    Damn, now I'm hungry!

Yup. For some reasone, I really like the texture that mixture gives. For instance, not too long ago I was pretty hungry for a snack, but definitely not a meal, so I got a milkshake from Steak 'n Shake and got a bag of those crackers, too. Get a spoonfull of milkshake, put a cracker in it, and viola. I think it's really good.

I also like to grab four or five of their long fries and dip them in my milkshake, too.

I know, I'm weird. Everybody makes fun of me for doing that.

I'm all about Steak 'n Shake, but their fries blow....

prob the worst out there and what is it?.... $1.79 to add them to your burger?!?

the 3-way after a night's "merriment" is manna from heaven

btw fries and shakes are perfect bedfellows IMO

ok.. i did make the chili three way last night.. and believe it or not.. it wasn't half bad. a little light on flavor though. if you could kick it up with maybe spicy chili then it would be better.

I'd make it again... in about a year down the road. It certainly won't become a staple in my house though. :p

I worked at the Steak n Shake in Fairview Hts IL (STL area) in 1979. I worked in the back doing dishes and food prep. That was one of the things that cemented the need to go to college!
