This flea market contains the same Adcom pre-amp that I had posted in another thread. I previously thought I would set-up a Surround Bar in the BR ala Adcom but I have decided to go with a Rotel RSDX-02, in lieu of a stacked Adcom setup.
I've never been a huge Adcom fan, as stated previously, but that shouldn't take away from the fact that it is some rock solid gear. It's a much better alternative to Carver, but let me clarify for the stalwart Carver fans, lest they start crying foul...it's just my opinion sweethearts. I would elaborate, but why bother.
I ran a test rig, with a pair of Polk Monitor 5 and a Sony Walkman('92)...and it was kickass. It won't replace my main 2CH rig, but it was certainly what I needed years ago...loud, capable of being obnoxious, and also of being a staple of real hi-fi....solid bottom end, above average midrange, average high end. This was just my test rig, your methods may vary greatly....it's all subjective. Keep in mind what my benchmark is...the rig didn't sound to bad at all.
ADCOM GTP-600 - Pre-Amp/ Surround Sound Decoder - 9/10 - *SOLD*
This is a MINT condition Pre-Amp/5.1 SS Decoder. It has alot of features including:
AM/FM Tuner
6 Audio Inputs(RCA)
4 Video Inputs(Composite & S-Video)
5.1 Pre-Amp Outputs
Monitor Outputs(Composite & S-Video)
IR Repeater Capable
AD Link Capatible(ADCOM Owners)
On-Screen Display
Test Tone Generator
Adjustable SS and Delay Values
DPL and Multi-Mode Soundfields(5)
GTP-600 User Manual
I know, it's not 6.1 or 7.1 and doesn't have an enormous amount of inputs. There's not much I can say aside from it's as good as you're going to get in an older unit. I've had 7.1 capable AVR's for years and still utilize 5.1 in-house. If you are one of those folks, or want to hook up the parents with 5.1....this would be a High-End choice for a bargain. If you are a Surround Bar owner and wanted to get into seperates...add an amplifier, and you're Golden.
Includes: Original box, original packaging, original user manual, reproduction manual and remote control.
ADCOM GFA-5400 - Amplifier(125x2@8) - 9/10 - *SOLD*
This a another decent amplifier from Adcom, solid power with big guts. Here's some factory data:
The GFA 5400 replaces the GFA 545II and offers many of the same design features and sonic attributes of the enthusiastically received GFA 5802 and GFA 5500. The specifications should adequately describe all the pertinent information, including the increased power output into 8 and 4 ohms over the GFA 545II. As the 4 ohm power indicates, the current capability of the GFA 5400 has been substantially increased. The improvements are clearly audible with virtually all loudspeaker systems and will be appreciated by all who will use multiple 5400s in home theater systems.

Nice snag on the pre-pro. I was tempted and came close the first time, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The Rotel was though.
I hear a lot of people use these to this day as 2 channel pre-amps since it has a dedicated sub out with bass management. It is supposed to be the exact same in 2 channel pre-amp performance as another Adcom model, GTP-550 I believe. -

Wanted to let everyone know that thanks to Doro, I now know what music is supposed to sound like through SDA's. Dealing with him is a breeze - really fast shipping, bullet-proof packaging and a great product. Thanks again Mark.
