Same here, and vacation as well. I am putting my current house for lease and getting another. But won't be that bad for me as I am looking in DFW area. I used to live in LI long time ago and I know it hasn't gotten cheaper. $300k can get me 4000 sq.ft. with a pool (a requirement here in the prairie) on a recently built house if I look carefully. Mostly those 1/4 acre lots but a few had couple of acres.

Of course, those sq.ft. numbers mean I have a need for more AV equipment to fill the house. My current house is only 2300sq.ft. and it was getting almost equiped. HT room is only 13x11 so there is one of the reason why I want to move. Even had outdoor speakers for the pool area but never had time to install them. So you got something to sell, talk to me, and remember it's buyers market... ;)

Me too. I'm moving from Houston into the Dallas intown area, following the missus to her new post at SMU. We've been shopping in East Dallas between 75 and White Rock Lake, but not looking for nearly so much house; more like 1800 sqft. But at $135/ft, it adds up quickly.

Location. Close to Highland Park and downtown so you're getting into the high dollar area. Just don't go south to Oak Cliff, low dollar, high crime. If you're willing to drive a little, north Dallas has great locations for lot less money and they are right by the tollway so traffic isn't bad. Richardson f.e. is 10-20 min drive away from SMU if you're open to other locations. If you haven't made up your mind yet and need some help with the locations, you can PM me.

Ooops, sorry for the OT, I thought this would have been in The Clubhouse...
