Uh, just wow.

Some guy (or a company, it seems) made a home theater room look like the Batcave. I wish there were more pics / info, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I bet it's better than you think, there doesn't appear to be very many flat parallel surfaces, which is a good thing.

Well you have to admit that it's better than that Star Trek motif that was posted a few days back. It was the older Star Trek(ala early 70s tv series) setting, too.

My brother knows an old teacher of his who lives in town and while his basement isn't about audio it does have a theme. He's done it up in a realistic Eqyptian theme that mimicks a tomb entrance and sarcouphagous (sp). It really looks cool if you are into that type of thing.

He thought about starting his own business doing theme basements, but he only wanted to do Egyptian theme stuff, pretty limited if you ask me. The effort and money that went into, while a bit strange, is really cool. It took him about 2 years to complete everything. The other cool thing is had former students help him do the labor, etc.

Looks like spray on expanding foam insulation. It would be pretty quick to do once you had the room ready, and not too expensive if you were in the business or knew someone who was. Spray on some dark latex paint for shading and your ready to go. It might of taken some practice for stalagtites, I've done similar unintentionally when using the spray foam insulation  I would think the foam would make for a pretty acoustically dead room. Neat but a lot of work to change it when the GAF/WAF/SOAF decides it's outlived its usefulness :(
