No Paycheck

All I am writing this to get this off of my chest. I want to know if anyone has had a problem like this.

I work for a large pharmicutical company and after 7 monts of working there I was brought on as a full timer from a contractor. The contracting company always paid when promised and I never had any issues with them.

On friday of last week i was expecting my first paycheck from the company. When I got home there was no paycheck in the mailbox. I figured that since my direct deposit will take a couple of weeks i figured i would get it on saturday. Well after waiting for the mailman to come on saturday I still did not have a paycheck. Again I figured worse case I would get the check on Monday as the mail is not always the fastest. On monday i decided to call my payroll dept to verify that the check was mailed. They told me that there was a problem and my check was not mailed. When I asked what the problem was they told me it was a glitch on how they had my employment status in the computer and they would fix it and cut me a check next thursday. When I asked even though there was an issue I still should have been paid on time anyway they gave me the runaround. I asked if they can overnight the check to me since I have bills to pay, mainly rent. They said that there was nothing that they can do about it and i would have to wait another week. So I went to my boss to he if he can make some headway and after a few phone calls he got the same answer and there going to fedex a check to me thursday for friday delivery. He also told me that this problem was with 140 people not just me.

I ask what kind of company would not want to help me out in a situation like this. I should not have to wait another week for money that is owed to me and they should of happily fedex'd a check to me that day. Well tomorrow I will call them again and make sure I get a tracking number to make sure i get the check once and for all.

Has anyone here has a situation like this and was it handled the same way? I Appreciate everyone listening to me and let me get this off of my chest. I will let everyone know how it turned out.

Dave

If there is a screw up because of company error, they should cut you a check right there for an estimated amount of your check. That is what we do. They will always tell you there is nothing they can do. Go up higher and explain the situation.

Dave, Hang in there! I know it must be difficult. Be as diplomatic as you can but also continue to push the urgency of the issue. I wish you luck in these difficult times.

When I start with a new company I always get things like that in writing. Any company worth their salt will give it to you in writing as part of the hiring package. Last company I joined I didn't even have to ask it was all layed out in a nice package on my hiring date. This way there is no doubt about what the expectations are.

Job descriptions, time off, paydays, salary, benefits, perks, signing bonus, etc. are always laid out before I officially agree to start.

As an update I called payroll and the lady was rude to me but said my check is being fedex'd today. When I asked for a tracking number she told me she wont have one untill they go out tonight. I really hope that they come through this time as it is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth

    Your new nickname is Milton.

Mr. Lumbergh told me to talk to payroll and payroll told me to talk to Mr. Lumbergh and I still have not received my paycheck and they moved my desk to storage room B and there was garbage on it.
