Does anyone recognize these speakers? I'm trying to slowly build my HT system.

I'd appreciate any help.

with those surrounds and center... you may want to get wharfedale mains then.. it could sound off having the center a different brand then the center. or are you just looking for temp mains right now to hold you over?

HOw did you end up with one RT55i in the first place?

i bought it on ebay and didn't look at the fine print. the auction said "speaker" and i thought i was getting an incredibly good deal for a pair of "speakers".

i wouldn't mind replacing the warfedales. together they only cost me $200 a few years ago. i had vintage JBLs as my mains and a polk sub but they were both my roommates and he has since moved out. so i got a sub and am mainly looking for mains. basically, i'm looking for mains and from there would treat my center and surrounds as temps until i can replace them with polks.

Sell the wharfedales, use the rt55i for a center channel, buy the rt38is from ghsime for the fronts, use the rt3s for surround. Just my 2 cents. :)

Thanks guys! Does anyone have an idea of the age of these? They appear to be older (different tweeter) than all of the pictures I see. That sure looks like an older tweeter, and the fuse on the back really makes it look old. Thanks for the help.

Those were late 70 / early 80. Sweetheart little speaker. One of the Polk legends.

Most definelty the Polk Monitor 4. A real nice sounding bookshelf speaker. I'd agree it's one of the classics. See link

That Mon 4 has the Peerless Tweeter, too. You'll be amazed at how well they sound. Those are the ones you should use for the mains, imo.

I believe that the tweet is an sl1500. I'm going by the POLKSDA site. It sure looks like the peerless, however.
