Spaeker Level Issue With Sherwood?

I may or may not have something freaky going on in my set up.
A few months ago I moved my rig to another room just to see how it sounded. I calibrated the speakers with an SPL meter and oddly my test tones required me to bump up the settings in my Sherwood Pre. A lot. Like from -1 or -2 on the fronts to +5 or so for example. I chalked it up to the room so I just shrugged it off.
I did not like the sound in there so I moved every back to where it was and recalibrated fully expecting my settings to go back to normal. To my surprise the SPL meter was still having me set every thing just as high as the other room. I tried a different Spl meter to see if maybe mine was broken. Same new high readings.
Now with my new Von Schweikerts everything is about as hot as they were with the Polks and my center is now even at +7. All calibrations were done setting my master volume to 0 and calibrating to 75 with the SPL.
I didn't really worry before because everything seems fine but it's just a little weird to have to suddenly set everything so high to calibrate my speakers to reference level with no apparent reason when I was calibrating them before exactly the same way and getting settings in the negative area on my Pre. Any thoughts, theories, ideas?

Ok I am not surprised that no one has an answer as it's pretty weird...but I fixed it anyway. I ran the Auto Calibration just to see what would happen and it set the levels at lower numbers. The auto calibration was incorrect though (as always !) as I could tell just by demoing a few scenes by ear. Sooooo I put in my calibration DVD and VIOLA! The calibration settings went back to -1, 0 etc. I don't know what the heck happened but I guess just running the Auto Cal set it straight...? If any other P-965 owners run across this just try the Auto Cal.Sharp Elite 70

Glad we could help .
Darla, let us know what you think of your new Von Schweikerts after you listen for awhile

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Just curious if you have the 5.1 version firmware with SNAP?

Ha Yes...thanks for that;)
Lovin' em so far.
I just have the 4.1 version. I thought about getting the SNAP but I decided it was too buggy and I just concentrated on speaker/ sub placement and room treatments. I also have an SMS-1.Sharp Elite 70
