It was suggested to me to parallel wire my VSA LCR15 center with another and just have two centers. The guy that told me this sells and installs them and said that the speaker was 12 ohm and it would be fine but I am not seeing this. Does anyone think this is ok? These are the LCR15 Center Specs . I don't see anything that says 12 ohm here. What am I missing?

I split my center pre/out signal to run three center speakers.
I do not know about running them in series but mine sounds fine with three amps running them.

This guy was just suggesting that I run the two centers on the same amp channel and just use two cables....?

The speaker specs say 8 ohm nominal, 7 ohm min. That means in parallel, you'll get 4 ohm nom, 3.5 ohm min- which should be fine on the cinenova.

If the result sounds a little funky to you, you're probably experiencing comb filtering. In my experience most rooms have so much reflected sound that it doesn't matter, but every room is different.

What is the expected benifit if you run it off the same amp channel? Were you planning on stacking them? Couldn't you just bump up the dbs on the processor? Just curious.

Darla I thought that you were very happy with the center?

There's no benefit to running off the same amp channel... but if you're out of free channels, then there's no problem with running it on the same channel.

The benefit of dual centers is that with over/under placement and good vertical "toe in" the sound imaging sounds more like it's coming right from the center of the TV screen. The drawback is that in some rooms you'll get comb filtering- kinda like bass nulls, but at many frequencies. However, if the center channels are equidistant to the primary listening position, I find this effect is pretty minimal... but some people disagree.

The one other benefit is if you've got a big room and can't get enough volume from one center without compression. However, you're usually better off dumping the one you've got and moving up to a higher model, but that's not an option here.
