RM101 as stereo speakers?

I need something small for my kitchen and the 101's are about as big as I have space for. I have a whole house audio distribution system with different Polk's in every room and love them. I even have a few set's outdoors!
How well will the 101's work out of a surround sound system?
Near as I can tell my only other option is to get some small spherical 4" or 5" speakers that I have never heard before.
