Older HDTV concerns

OK, I have an older HDTV which doesn't have either HDMI or DVI. It only has the component video inputs. Most newer devices that do upscaling only doing on the HDMI or DVI outputs because of copywrong restrictions (thanks MPAA for assuming that all of us are guilty of file sharing and not allowing fair use). I know that cables are available to convert HDMI to DVI, but is there any device like an Extron that can convert from DVI or HDMI to component? I don't want to have to buy a new HDTV just because of the MPAA.
Thanks,
TL

Allegedly this will output the upscaled res via component. Not sure if it's true:

Also, I've seen devices that will strip the HDCP and output component, but I've heard that they don't always work. Something about a banned device list that actually goes on the media, maybe?Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

HDMI is DVI just with digital audio passed through as well so you don't have to use another coax or optical connection like you do with DVI. So there really isn't any conversion of the video part, just a change of connectors. that's why HDCP can work with both. The copy protection is designed not to work with any other connection. So I don't think such a connection would work unless they somehow hacked the protection scheme.

Well,
If you wait long enough, eventually the whole system will be cracked.

I think another article I read said it could be done in a year of HD content and players becoming mainstream. -
According to this you should be safe until 2012
