Joe, I believe you're honest. (Just by your postings)

I also believe we have among us people who what something for nothing. I believe we have service people and or managers / owners willing to add to profits one way or the other. I don't believe either is right.

I've been going to Valvoline for a while and haven't had any issues. They don't ever try to push me to buy anything. I went to a Jiffy Lube when I first moved to IL and it ended up costing me like $60 to get my oil changed and the guy kept trying to get me to use the high mileage oil or to have my radiator flushed. I used to change my own oil when I was living in LA since I had a driveway, but it's just not practical anymore.

It's usually around $10 or $15 labor plus parts for an oil change. I don't see why anyone would bother wasting their time with jackstands crawling under the car to change the oil unless you LIKE to do it.

Changing the oil is easier than changing a tire. Just get a couple ramps from your local wal-mart/auto store.

i change the oil on the truck, don't need stands or ramps, and wal mart recycles the old oil for free.
