Monitor 4-wood veneer or vinyl

I am considering purchasing some Monitor 4's to use in the basement or as rear surround speakers elsewhere. They have the Peerless tweeters so they appear to be the early ones. However, they appear scratched up and I was wondering whether they were finished in wood veneer or in vinyl. I could refinish the veneer but I guess I couldn't do much with the vinyl. Are these 6 or 8 ohm impedance? I have read favorable impressions of the 5, 7 and 10 over here but not much about the 4's.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Those are vinyl covered. Parts Express sells new vinyl.

Thanks for the tip. Indeed, Parts Express does carry vinyl laminate rolls.
Still at $9.98 and with reasonable shipping with 7 hours to go. I've decided to pass. Will wait for the right 7.

How much are/did you getting them for?

I had just picked up a pair as well... Paid a touch on the high side, but the Peerless tweeters make me smile and make it worth it.

Mine are also uglified. The previous owner had used mounting brackets on the back, and then filled in the screw holes after removing. Ugly job, but doesn't affect sound. May drill and plug properly if I have any energy. Other than the back, sides and front are in super Mint+ condition... Same with the drivers.

Suddenly ran out of space to use mine... debating if I should sell.... would be a great loss, but even more unused.

They work great as a nearfield monitor as well, for recording purposes.
