This is only based on what I've heard, but I've drove a pair 1B's, a pair of SRS's and a pair of 1.2 TL's with no problem (two of them for over 300 miles):
-Try not placing them on their sides; people say it's easier to damage drivers.
-Put them over some cushion material to absorb bumps
-Protect them from rubbing with foam or other.
Good luck!!_________________________________________________

Don't drop them!
You don't say what vehicle you have, but they are best transported on their backs. If you're using a pick up, cover and pad them well.Political Correctness'.........defined

I had to haul my SRS's down from Phoenix in a light rain part of the way. I put a blanket down underneath, split some heavy-duty garbage bags and wrapped them up, then put another water resistant blanket on top then yet another waterproof sleeping bag. I then criss-crossed a rope across the top to hold it all down.
This was done in the back of my FX4 F150.

Stay out of Louisana, don't exceed the speed limit, and never, never,,travel after midnight.
AND,, If you are traveling on Sunday,,take a bible,it never hurts to have all your bases covered,,IF I ever find myself on a road trip for speakers(which I doubt will ever happen again),I'm taking a bus load of Nuns with me.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -

That's the answer. Figured I'd get you riled up'
I'll be using a Chevy P/U. thinking about using a queen size air mattress for padding, anybody tried that. Of course have backup in case I spring a leak. Gotta go about 300 miles. Gonna be a new addition to the family:D>

May your trip be a pleasant one,and less eventful than mine.I use the "hospital eggcrate" for padding the backs and sides. Have a safe trip.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Congrats on your 2.3's...Did you win the ones on the bay recently?

Hey George,With the price of gas being what it is,I would have twice the cost of the 1C's in fuel alone...
Sad,but true...I haven't forgotten you,I just can't justify the cost, and I really hate to take a "chance" on shipping them with any carrier, have read too many horror stories on CP:D -
I know what you mean,, the fuel bill for the La. trip alone was @ 200.00,not to mention the mental anguish.;)JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

The air mattress is the way to go. About $25 at WM. It puffs up in between and all around. Plus, you'll be able to "camp out" next to your new babies for a couple of nites....till they settle in!
-
I used two heavy-duty self-inflating camping mats. Worked like a charm. Those babies slept all the way home. They are getting used to their new home.>
