Does anyone have an opinion on the original Sunfire 200x5 amplifier? From what I can gather it was released in 1997. I am thinking of buying one used but I am not sure of the specs and also if it is worth the $1000 price tag?

I have never heard the amp but I have th preamp and it is very well built and sounds way better than the Onkyo TX-DS 787 it replaced.
Don't know if that helps but...

nearly everything about sunfire is a very good thing. Thats my personal opinion on the brand. All the sunfire gear is very powerful stuff.

I head there was some problems with some of their older models with transformer buzzing, but i think they fixed that. Might want to do find the serial number from the person you are buying from and give sunfire a call. They should be able to tell you more info about any particular serial number.
