I was at the local Hi-Fi house yesterday looking for an amp.The salesmen said I might want to look at new speakers rather than an amp.
I am looking fo r more intensity out of my system. I currently have monitor 40, 30 & cs-1. Should I spend the money on new speakers or the amp. I like the sound from the moitors, They just don't put out that in your face sound.

Describe "in your face". Are you looking for more overall volume, bass impact, piercing highs, cleaner vocals?HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

What are you currently running your speakers with? The salesman might be right.

Bass impact more then volume. I am running the speakers off a Yamaha RX-V650. I went from boston vr towers to the monitor 40's due to room. I'm just not happy with the set-up.Michael

You should probably swallow a bunch of prescription drugs now, before it gets rough.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

PSW 303. If I buy the drugs I won't have the cash for the staggering amount of money this is going to cost me.Michael

If you want bass impact and you don't have any complaints about midrange or treble then **** getting an amp, go straight to a sub. Sell the sub you have and get something with more balls.
You can build one, buy one, steal one...but I'd avoid polk subs. I love polk speakers, but I never really liked their subs much. -
Ok, so it looks like speaker change. I looked at SVS subs and liked the cube style sub they had for around 400. As far as speakers go. I think that going from the Monitors to thr Rti would only be a slight increase insound quality.
The Lsi's are 4ohm. I'm limited to bookshelf size but am looking for the sound close to what I got from the Bostons. What are my options?Michael
