Pre/Pro/Receiver Factory Reset = Reboot? It was in my case...

Well, I had a near death experience last weekend. I was removing some excess RCAs from the DVD-A/SACD separate gear time. Since it was behind the in-wall cabinet, I was too lazy to take out the unit, so, I relied on my memory to feel where the RCAs need to go. Yeah, you guessed it, I managed to shorted out one of the Signal Cable Scosche RCA while the Ref50 was still on (second blunder that day). Long story short, Ref50 blinked and screamed twice, and start acting weird. So, I grabbed the manual, and do the three-fingers salute (ON/STANDBY-ENTER-MENU), just like when I do my computer (CTRL-ALT-DEL), and voila, it zeros out all my settings back to factory defaults. But here is the kicker, after I recalibrate everything back to where it should be, my two channel setup (direct mode to front only) is actually sounded better! details improve quite a bit, Jacintha is REALLY in the house now!

So, morale of the story is (or perhaps, "note to self"):
1. Turned off everything before rewiring the connection
2. B&K is bitchin! other than squelching and need to be reset, nothing is broken
3. I supposed, it is a good thing to factory reset a pre/pro/Rcvr from time to time, and recalibrate. After all, it full of IC/Chips, just like a PC.

Thoughts?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Yeah, the thought of having to ship back the unit to Rochester, NY from CA flashed, and it had those sunken feeling of oh sheaat.

B&K has earned my respect and future biz. And best of all, it's one of the few brands (of Pre/Pro) that still carry the "Made in USA" sticker, true and true.
