Here is my background...
Never have owned *any* HT audio, 63 year old married male.
I have not heard any surround sound in anyones home, so I don't know
what I am missing.

Moving into a new home and I WILL be getting 50" TV and audio stuff.
I am leaning very much to the Polk Audio Surround BAR, which wil give me
some Surround SOund..The room is 15' W 25' long and the ceiling is 18'...a perfect rectangle. TV will be at the 15' w spot facing the 25' long part.

Would I be better off with 2 Towers, Sub, and Center Speakers with NO rear SS. I know there is no right or wrong answer, trying to get opinions.

depends on what your listening habbits are, and what you will be expecting to get from your audio purchase.

If you are looking for some pretty good sound and lower to mid volume, the Surround Bar might just be for you you (adding a subwoofer is almost a must).

If you think you are wanting some serious sound and want it loud, you will need some floorstanders for that large room.

Have fun, get away from the computer and go to a local store and play around with the stuff, learn a little.

    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

    Hi dick

welcome to the forum. Ive listened to the surround bar and really the only time I have heard the surround working is when I used the test tone on the reciever. I am not a big fan of the surround bar so you might want to get some more opinions. but you are better off getting a set of rti8s (which is $100 cheaper) and you will get MUCH better sound quality. And if you want a center get the csi3 for $200.

All Im trying to say is that your not going to get that much of the "surround effect" from the surround bar. But let your ears decide and go take a listen.
