I need help with an amp purchase. I just bought my lsi's. I knew going in my reciever would not be able to feed these hungry beasts. I will use it for a preamp. I have found an Adcom gfa6000. It is a super clean playing amp. I know this because I own a two channel adcom in another system. This amp has 100W x 3 and 60 x 2 at 8 ohms. Since it will be driving 4 ohms it jumps to 150W/100W respectively. I think this sounds like a fair amount of power, and I would like to know anyones thoughts on how this set up would sound. I am interested in both quality and volume. I listen to music and ht equally. Thanks in advance for your help. You can find the specs for this amp at

Welcome Pal! If you can look for a more powerful amp. You would just be scratching the surface of what your LSI's can handle with that particular Adcom.

Thanks for your input. I assumed it would be enough power to enjoy it without playing super loud which I rarely do. You think I need around 200 at 4 ohms? That would be the next step I suppose, but that is where the amps start getting expensive you know. Thanks again.

hey cfrizz, I am selling rti8's now. Don't you think they sound colored and brassy? I listened to the lsi's and can't listen to the 8's anymore, I don't mean to be rude but that is what I hear. They seem to be ok for ht, but not a fair reproduction of music. So you don't think this is enough power to enjoy this rig? I think you may be right, just wasn't sure. Thanks for the input dude.

I agree with CFrizz, who is a woman btw. :D

yes. solid amps for their pricepoint (used) and a great way to introduce yourself to separates. Will you upgrade from Adcom, probably- but the key is that Adcom gets you to that point in the first place. It did for me, and I loved every single minute of it.

I found an acurus amp that is made by aragon. It is 200x3 at 8 ohms and got stellar reviews from everyone. I can use my adcom which is 100x2 for the rears and I think I will be solid. Opinions?

I have Aragon 2004, 2*200W into 4ohm, and it drives my LSi15's beautifully. I don't know how they compare but based on the Aragon I wouldn't think that Acurus would have any problems. I think that Acurus might be 400Wx3 into 4ohm.

I've used Acurus amps, this will drive your LSi's with no problem, great building quality. Most have only one little thing wrong that is the power light flickers after time, no big deal as it does not effect sound quality, just be aware that this is a common fault with Acurus amps.

Bought the acurus 200x3, damn son......this thing is solid!! I have not heard a stronger amp. I think you might be right in assuming the it is 400w into 4 ohms. Anyway, how about those lsi's? They are beautiful sounding speakers, I was very impressed. The added power made them open up and sing. Thanks for the help guys, you steered me right!!:)
