looking for a new head unit

hey guys im in the market for a new deck. my friend has an alpine 9855, but i hear alpine isnt that great nemore. another friend has a premier mp680 which is great, it performs better but im concerned about the way it looks. i want something that looks fancy like the alpine 9855 but at the same time performs like a permier. and the HU can be from any company. i dont really like alpine controls either. and visualization is really important so something like a colour screen or partially colour with tons of visualization would b a much appreciated bonus

    Get the new Premier p780mp, and you'll have the best of both worlds :p

    Let me tell you how this thread will go.

    Audiobliss will tell you to get pioneer cause he has one but will also tell you to get an Eclipse deck cause they have great sq.

    1996blackmax will tell you to get an Eclipse unit and will show you a picture of his cause he makes love to it every night. ha!

    Macleod will mention he thinks Alpines have gone down in quality but he loves his 9855 and the glide touch isnt as bad as people make it out to be.

    lol this thread isnt really helping me that much. but i checked out the 780 and its really nice but the 880prs is more expenisive but when i compared the two i didnt c a difference on thier website, in terms of specs. which one is gonna sound better? or do the sound the same? thanx

    the 880 has an auto 16 band l/r eq. auto ta, you can shut off the internal amp, i believe 6.5v pre-outs, maybe 5.5v. most of which, i don't belive the 780 has. The 780 does have a color screen, but really....who cares. And I'd do more of a comparison, but i just worked my 2nd of 4 doubles in a row, plus had a few beers, so this is as much as your gettin from me for now :)

    880 is hands down the better radio. Its designed exclusively for SQ. The 780 is more for looks. You asked what had a color display, the 780 does, 880 doesnt. You could wait for the 980 to come out. Sound better than the 780, not as good as the 880, but still have the color display youre looking for.

    crutchfield has the 9800 listed which is the regular version. I presume the 980 will come out within the next month
