Well, here is my story.... I bought a pair of SDA 2's about 10 months ago. They did not come with an interconnect cable so I rigged on. Life was good. I was living in an apartment at the time and could not play them very loud, but they sounded great anyway. Then I moved into a house. The first time I tried to crank them all hell blew loose. They started rattling like several of the drivers were blown and sounded really really bad. Turn down the volume...everything was fine. Turn the volume back up and total crap again. Thought maybe the connections in the cable were a little loose so I took the sda cord loose. Much better at all levels but no SDA effect. So last weekend I I did some customizing and put speaker terminals in the back of the speakers for the sda cable. Plugged everything back up and still sounded like crap at anything over 11 o'clock on the volume dial.

Well, I decided to switch the sda terminals, I mean at this point what could it hurt. HOLY CRAP! it worked. All this time I had the cable terminals switched!!!!!!

Let me tell you, SDA 2's DO NOT WORK RIGHT when the cable terminals are switched!:o
Setup:
Adcom GFA-545 amp
Nad 1600 pre
Dual 704 TT
Pioneer 707 R2R
Pioneer DV-578A Multi-format

Installing binding posts is of course a good fix. If anyone wants to make a good replacement interconnect cable with out tearing into the speakers, the connectors can be bought from Allied Electronics. They are called Jones Cinch Connectors and are about three bucks.

I just made a set with 12 Ga twisted pair to replace the 20 yr old factory cable which now has 0.9 ohms resistance. The new cable has less than 0.1 ohms. It made a small but noticeable difference in the size and particulary depth of the sound stage. Here is the link:
