Room 18'x23' Purchased LSi 9's for R&L, LSiC, and have mid and rear surrounds by Pro Solutions. I need power for speakers, music and 7.1 HT, mostly for HT. I can't swing a $2k amp + reciever. I would say to start with will have about a $1200 budget for 7.1 rcvr and amp. Am I doomed or can some one help with what rcvr's and amps to look at. Thanks:D

You have plenty of money. Buy a receiver with pre-outs ($500) and use the remainder for a used 3 channel or 5 channel amp ($700) from ebay or audiogon. Use the receiver for the mid and/or rear surrounds.

BTW, do you have a sub?

:) no sub yet, but have decided on svs.

What about name brands of recievers and amps? I have always had Yamaha recievers? But I am open for opinions.

You'll get too many divergent opinions here. Just pick one.

I think I have decided on the outlaw 990, what are suggestions on power. And should I stick with outlaw or is there some good more economical power out there. Really would like to save some on the power if I can to help make up going so far over on the Pre.

Nice. I've had my Outlaw 990 for a few months now.. i'm continually amazed at it's sound.. and that's what it all comes down to really is the sound right?

IF you do go with the Outlaw 990.. you may want to order the amp from them too.. because they'll knock off I think like $200 off the price if you purchase them together. $200 back in your pocket right off the top... no rebate forms to fill out. nada.. more bang for your buck!! :D

    * i don't know what kind of discount you get if you go with something different than their 7 channel amp.*

Do you need a 2, 5 or 7 channel amp?

the Outlaw 7500 amp looks to be able to handle 4ohm loads at 300wpc. X 5 that would be a nice fit for those LSi's.

If you only need two ch.. then go with two 2200 mono block amps.. it's still 300watts @ 4ohms

How many speakers do you intend to run? Do you have room for 5 speakers or 7 speakers? That tells you whether to order the 7500 or the 7700.

Nice choice on going with the Outlaw!

Duh! my bad... for suggesting a two channel amp. I just realized if T-Bone gets the Outlaw 990..it's a pre amp. no built in amps. so he'll need at least a 5 channel amp.. for 5.1 OR a 7 channel amp for 7.1 Doh!

the 990 only has one other zone, not two. so you'd need a 7 channel amp. or a 5 ch + a seperate 2 channel would work also.

ubid.com has Audiosource amps for a nice price, those might be good for your surrounds.
