Just to update the pic - I moved the www.eandr.biz to the right top corner... (I know its mega off center in the pic) - and yes, I want it there. So...yeah.

Not really sure Sid, but personally I think detailed sharp lines add clarify & professionalism. I had to look close to figure out the words.

Regarding the web-page: Can you change the set-up so that you don't have to scroll left and right? You really don't have that much info on the page, to justify scrolling sideways, and it's a pain in the rear to do it.

Oh and ya, your little bar is hard to read. I second the motion to change the font big time so you can actually read it :)

I'd change the font on everything below the silver bar. Compared to the text in green above, the bottom print is squished together.

Maybe try adding a thin white border to the green text. It'll hopefully help to emphasize it a little more.

Also another +1 for changing the silver text. It's a cool effect having it kind of cloudy, but it makes it hard to read.

It's in the ballpark but it kind of reminds me of the stylings of an Ebay offer for cheaper computers (if that makes any sense).

Some kind of 3d effect in more of a gold tone.

looks like something a local cash advance place would put on their website.

sorry I'm just being honest. it just doesn't look all that professional. i agree with the detailed sharp lines comment above.

I dont have time to comment on everything...

But - Only about 3% of the people that view the website have their mnitor on 800x600.

Also, this not the whole layout - just the top part...

The text dosnt look "blury to me though"

    test

For those that dont know how the website goes...

I usually have the top part of the page (which is what you are seeing right now)....

    And then I have a middle/bottom part...

My plan is to take this style of layout and add two big pictures to the part below it, one that says Homes For Sale with a big house and then Land For Sale then a pic of land around it...

Im just trying to simplify my Dad's site - and yes, it does have to be that wide - that lil white bar is the menu and he has about 8 or so links to be put there. And like I said, you will only have to scroll if your monitor is set to 800x600 and very few people use that because well...you will have to scroll on alot of things.

In general it looks good, but the website address should be in the lower right hand corner for something this small. I'd also nix the green text and make it the same color as the text below the graphic line. The E & R and Investment placement is perfect. You might just want to move everything to the left some more to make room for the website address on the lower right.

"Insert picture using 'Word Art' ".

    Word Art.gif

Any Microsoft product ("Word", "Publisher" , "Page-uh-Whatchamacallit") has the "Insert Picture Using Word Art".

The attachment I threw in very quickly shows the direction I'm talking about.
I'm doing this at work, have to get on/get off the computer before they get nasty, so I didn't have time to clean it up real nice.

But I hope it shows the kind of 3-d effect I'm suggesting you aim for.
Tweak the colors as needed, etc.

Where are you located? My first question. The colors are to vivid, electric, bright. Try to tone them down. The blue here is a good example.

Actually I do change them sometimes - depends on how I perceive your opinion.

Like cheap, blah blah - yeah - I just ignore that.

I already changed it once (made it brighter, sharpened the image)...

The address placement -- cant move it below the white bar because then it would be in the middle of the layout. As I said above - this is just the top piece of the puzzle, the bottom puzzle isnt involved yet.

As for colors - the houses for the site are at the beach...so we are trying to get a very vivid look - something that catches your eye. But I am most definitely going to have to nix that green and possibly move to white or the blue. Thanks for bringing that one back..

The capital letters - dont know why we do it, but the entire site does not consist of one word that begins with a lower case letter.

There is a lot of empty space in that banner. I'd do more of a transitional piece for the banner. Perhaps show a picture of a beautiful new home on the left, have that transition into a custom or speculative home, then into a pier and/or sea wall. In all of these images, maybe show some construction on each item (if you could get a picture of each that shows it half finished and the other half under construction would work well).

That way you are portraying what the company does in not only words, but through images.

Also, it looks like there are some jaggie lines along the water and around the center gray bar (on the end of it). Maybe apply some sort of blur to tone the sharp edges down. Also, if you're using photoshop, make sure you rasterize your shapes; that usually eliminates some sharp edges.

    Just my 2 cents

I know it sounds nit-picky as hell, but using incorrect punctuation lends an unprofessional look/feel to the banner.

    Just a thought..

I don't like the font on "E & R" (they appear as symbols at first, takes a brief moment to place them as letters) or "Investments" ('I' is unclear in the water). People expect to see clearer type online.

Bottom line needs to say New Home Specialists (like the rest) and needs to be consistent with usage of "and" and "&". I'd use "and" in each case across the bottom.

    an "L".

    That's what we're talking about.

Hey, if certain parts look, "cheap", than.....well, they look "cheap", especially in relation to the rest of the site.

Remember, we don't get paid extra for our opinions. Or do we ?
