I watched American Idol today and was impressed with Katherine's "Over The Rainbow".....great potential IMO; would not be surprised if in a couple of years she starts recording some good Jazz vocals...we'll see.

I freaking LOVE Norah Jones. It's crazy, but I'm a complete metalhead that listens to Norah Jones every night when my wife and I go to bed. We play it very low and fall asleep to her music EVERY, and I mean, EVERY night. Insanity.

If someone can top Norah in my books, that's an incredible accomplishment. I know a lot of you guys like Diana Krall but I can't stand her music/voice. I think Norah is much better. (flame suit was on before I posted this!)

    Mazeroth,

I agree with you; Norah is great; I like also Diana Krall, but for a totally different mood...

But Jane Monheit..she won my heart :)

I'm quite fond of Norah Jones, though I don't listen to her CD's very often. I didn't much care for the songs from this girl I just checked out on myspace.

My wife tells me jokingly that Norah has a "cat killer" voice. Least I think she is joking......we don't have any cats to try it on and the dog hasn't croaked when I play her CD's.

I agree. I watched tonight's how and she did great. She just need to not oversing her songs....just as Randy Jackson told her. Katherine actually made "Over The Rainbow" sound sexy.

Kathryn has the tendency to project like she is on stage doing a musical or opera. Tonight was her best night so far, but it might not be enough to keep her around.

I'm thinking Elliott may go home this week. I wish Taylor would learn how not to crouch except when he is belting out loud passages. He looks like an old man tryin to take a ****.

I concur. Elliot was best last week, but this week he was not at his best. I think it will be down to Katherine and Taylor for next week.

If Katherine could just avoid screeching so much I think she'd be fantastic. I couldn't believe how good most of "Somewhere Over teh Rainbow" sounded. She has such a good range, and sounds so good on the lower end of hte scale, but insists on holding these high notes that just.... don't work at ALL.

Elliot's been great but I don't think this was his week.

Norah is OKAY, but she's overhyped a bit IMO.

Who you like better is subjective of course, and my wife also prefers Norach. But in terms of sheer talent, Diana Krall is leaps and bounds ahead of Norah

Talent don't mean diddly if no one likes you.

    Personally I like Norah better.

Speaking of Norah, anyone check out her work on the new Little Willies cd?

Katherine seems to be underated by the judges.

    Diana Krall is fantastic.
