1080p

So there seems to be a lot of hype around 1080p TV's these days.
So the question is, is it worth spending the extra $$$ and going in for a
1080p TV or are 1080i or 720p TV's good enough?
Second of all, do all these upconverting receivers/ DVD players upconvert to 1080p?
I know that XBox 360 is 1080p so that's a good reason to get the 1080p resolution or even the new HD-DVD and Blue-Ray formats are reason enough to go 1080p.
But if you're watching regular DVD, are you good enough with a less expensive TV?
I wanted to reference Sid's post also:

Hey Crazy! Just a heads up Xbox 360 isn't 1080p, just 720p and 1080i. And at this moment the new HD-DVD (Toshiba) is only 1080i at this point too.
