Hi all RUSH fans!

I would like to get a "best of" Rush CD/ CDs and would like to get some opinion.

I found the following "best of..." CDs and wanted to know which one to get.

1) Retrospective I (1974-1980)
2) Retrospective II (1981-1987)
3) Chronicles

None of these seem to have Vapor Trails or Roll The Bones tracks though.

I have a Rush LIVE CD; Different Stages - Live

Chronicles would be the best choice, IMO.

    Hi Crazy,
I have Chronicals and like it a lot. But the cd that really turned me onto Rush Is Exit Stage Left. It is a live album with a best of song list. For some reason I prefer Rush live on this cd compared to the studio recording on Chronicals. Can't go wrong with either though. Happy listening.

Look into getting the Live in Rio DVD. It's 3 hours of a mix of their new and old stuff... a lot of great music on there! I have the DVD and also the CD soundtrack. I couldn't believe the old geezers could rock out for 3 hours straight, but I'll be damned if they didn't do a good job of it!
    Ludicrous gibs!

Great - thanks for the suggestions. I guess I'll get Chronicals since I already have a LIVE album of theirs.

Too bad it doesn't have my fav. track - Bravado

Also, doesn't have some cool instrumental stuff like "Leave That Thing Alone" on this album

Live in Rio has Bravado, Leave That Thing Alone, a smattering of tracks from Vapor Trails (which I enjoyed a lot more than the actual Vapor Trails album), plus a 18 minute long Neal Peart drum solo. Doesn't get much better than that :D

Or you could do what I did...made my own "best of" disc of Rush.
Matter of fact, I have made 3 "best of" to date! :D

Sure but I would need to own the CDs first :p

nadams - thanks for the info. I already have a great live album so I'm looking for my first Rush studio album.

Well, I had Vapor Trails but a friend took it and left town

"A Show of Hands" is a great one that hasn't been mentioned yet. As for your original question...Chronicles.

IMO, R30 is a better DVD than Live in RIO. They are both great, but if I had to choose R30 gets the nod. Chronicles is probably the best choice as a "best of" type of thing. For me, anything after Hemisphere's just isn't as good. Caress of Steel is one of my favorite Rush cd's.

I have Chronicles on CD also. AWESOME! I pulled out my Moving Pictures CD the other day and was loving life as I drove to work! Some of the best pure clean rock out there.

    Limelight is stil my fav!
    No excuses!
