This Norton Antivirus message popped up while at this site a few minutes ago. I think it was just a coincidence that it popped up here because every once in a while this message will pop up regardless where I am. Norton's is always able to delete it but this trojan was/is in my sys files and I have a feeling it is just renaming itself and Norton's keeps finding it..Running virus check in safe mode finds nothing..

Looks like a format is in order

I wasn't able to see the file name clearly enough to identify, but you may want to run a spyware scan before you go to the trouble of formatting. My favorite program lately is ewido (http://www.ewido.net/en/). Seems different programs are more effective at different times, used to be Spybot, Adaware, etc. They all can find things the others don't, usually.

Thanks for the replies guys. Thanks for the link dylan. The word file has a clearer picture of my warning screen.

I ran that program and it found one item which I deleted. At least it found something, Spybot and spywareblaster did not find anything.

I'm going to see what happens this weekend. I have all my discs ready for re-installation if needed...

There's more info here too (trojan.galapoper.a). Might be a good time to stop/ restart your system restore feature in XP, as this will clean out old restore points that contain infected files. Info.

Get rid of that "Symantec" program so you don't have those popups. That should solve it.

I would suggest Webroot Spysweeper and McAfee Stinger. Both are very good programs and we use them on my work site.
