Hi all,
I want to hook my Hafler DH-200 amp to my Polk 7's but I dont have any preouts on my Onkyo. Would this work: Going from L/R speaker out on Onkyo to L/R RCA input on amp?
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=265-025
Thanks all
Jake
Edit: I see now that it doesnt handle the wattage, but would anyone know what to use?

I've never seen or heard of anyone using those, but my guess is no since it says that the input should be under 15 amps. I suppose you could run your volume on the onkyo way low and use the gain on the amp, if there is one, to control volume. That is a terrible solution however as you will lose control of the volume of the center and rear channels, not to mention that you would lose any remote control ability.
What model Onkyo are you using? There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong. -
Thanks King,
Onkyo sr502. After rereading the specs on the adaptor, I see now. Anything in mind?

Not too sure man. Unfortunately you don't get pre outs until the 700 series. Any chance you can exchange it?
I don't know of any other options.:(There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong. -
Dont I wish I could exchange it, but its 3 yrs old. I am lost too, but thanks for trying.

why do they even make receivers without pre outs these days? I'm sure it's for saving money.. but so many people run into this problem.. you would think with all of todays advancements.. pre out would be standard on any receiver.
Just like a steering wheel in standard on a car or truck or SUVPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I don't think you have any options for using that receiver.
You can not go out of the main speaker outputs on the receiver as you'll damage the amplifier.
Your best bet is to find an older receiver on EBAY with pre-amp outs. They can be had relatively cheap if you are not looking for all the modern bells and whistles. The Family

This is pretty f***ed up right here. -

I haved looked at that option, but my Polks are the L\R mains of my 6.1 system.
I guess my only option is to try to sell my Onkyo and step it up with another Onkyo , HK or Denon , WITH PREOUTS!!
It is a shame, because the Onkyo is a well built AVR and does a great job with HT, just not quite smooth enough for me with 2 channel audio.Monitor 7b's front
