BURNABY, B.C. - Some parents haggle with their children to do yardwork, others pay them, but a man thought a shotgun blast would do the trick.

RCMP say they were called on Sunday night after a resident reported a man had fired off a shotgun in his back yard.

When officers arrived they found a very drunk 55-year-old man with a shotgun hidden behind his couch. advertisement

When officers questioned the man about why he had fired his weapon, the man said he was frustrated with his nephews and wanted them to hurry and get the yard work done.

Both the man and the weapon were taken into police custody, and charges are pending.

RCMP Corporal Pierre Lemaitre says at last check, the yard work still hadn't be completed.
