There is a listing on Audiogon currently for two NHT subs and a matching SA-3 sub amp. I don't know the 2nd hand market well for these units so I am hoping someone might help me out here.

I can get these for $550 shipped. Three individual boxes and insured.
Is that deal good, average or not so good?
Oh, and please everyone, I have dibs on these for now, please don't hi-jack them behind my back...not that anyone here would..

IMO, it's a decent deal. My only reservation is the 10" drivers. I believe you'll get bass down to the upper 20's, so they ain't gonna provide a super rumble effect for HT. However, if these are being purchased primarily for music, they could be a very good choice as stereo subs. The amp with crossover is very nice.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

They are 15 yrs old....does NHT use rubber surrounds or paper? They would be used for both music and HT.
Looking at some SVS subs they too go down to mid-20s, so I don't think I will lose that much ooph...will I? -

Depends. If you're looking at the PB-12 series, there will definitely be an improvement over the NHT models.
Again, it depends on what you're looking for. If you want all of the power and excitement in HT a sub can offer, then get an SVS or a Hsu sub. I would only recommend a 12" driver for HT, and I'd even generally suggest a single 12" sub over two 10" subs in the same class. (A 10 incher is OK for a smaller room.) If you play more music than movies, then you may be more interested in a "musical" sub(s). In that case, the NHT's may be what you're looking for.
Bottom line -- for HT, look elsewhere.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Thank you. I am probably 70% HT 30% music so I will look elsewhere.
