I finally ordered the replacement tweeters and driver for my SDA 2As from Ken.

Here are the rest of my pieces that I am putting together.

Sony E50A10 HDTV (purchasing today or tomorrow locally)
Sony DVPNC85HB DVD Changer (purchasing today or tomorrow locally)
Onkyo TX-SR703 (ordered earlier this morning from BPAV for $548.00)
Monster PowerCenter HTS 3500 MKII
and of course a pair of SDA 2A's

I just finished reading some of the comments on the Onkyo here, however they were regarding pushing a different pair of speakers than the SDA 2A's.

Anyone care to comment on how you think this setup will work?
I would like to add a center and some surround as well as a sub.

Can anyone reccomend what would work best with the aforementioned pieces?

And yes, after having bought all these items at once I will be kind of "drained" for a bit.

By the way since I just ordered the Onkyo this morning, if someone wants to reccomend another receiver ($500-$600) that would be better feel free.
I just dont have the money to buy quality separates right now, and want to get something playable.

Thanks guys

    Congratulations on the new gear.

As to comments, on your receiver you will not be able to buy substantially better at that price. Everyone will tell you that you will need a separate amp eventually to get the best sound from the SDA-'s and they are right. When you recover from the expense consider getting a sepatate amp to run off the pre-amp outs of the reciever. You'll notice a substantial difference.
For surrounds you might want to consider a set of Polk 5's or 5 Jr's. They can be had on EBAY for a good price. They are from the same era as your SDA's and while not using the exact same drivers, they are very close to sonically matching your SDA's. You could also use one as center.
For a sub SVS is a great sub, although can be pricy.

careful at high volumes, might make the reciever clip, thus blowing a driver or 2.

Thanks for the comments and recomendations Zen. Yea I think the SVS will be out of my price range for a long time. Looked at the 5 jr's ill keep my eyes out for a good deal but I was hoping I could find something a little smaller (especially for the center) and still be nicely matched. Are in wall's a nono for surround?
As much as Id like to keep polks all the way around I am not totally against another brand for rears that would still compliment that SDA's. Im doing all of this soley for my own enjoyment, the SDA's will impress all of my friends by themselves so anything else I can do to add to the overall sound that doesnt interfere with them will just be icing on the cake. Anyone else have any recomendations for subs, center and surround?

I have kept the SDA's since they were new (even though I havent used them for the past 8 years) because I knew I wouldnt find a better sounding pair of speakers for the price. ;)

It would be a lot easier for me if I owned a house but I am currently renting and am not sure how involved I want to take the setup. (Tile floors, old scary low attic)

IM gonna reinstall some image software and get a little sketch of my room so I can play around with repostioning things. ill posta pic later.

Ohskigod, yes, that is more than likely how the driver and tweeters got damaged in the first place, driving too loud (as teens do) with a Nak TA-1A and no external amp. I dont think I will be doing that kind of damage again, the Nakamichi only had 35 wpc and I was pushin em hard for a couple years before I had any problems with the speakers. Now that I know better I will hold back until I get them properly powered.

Got the TV (great picture by the way) DVD player and replacement speakers in now just waiting for the Onkyo to get here. Regarding the surrounds what is a good price for a pair of the 5jr's I believe I have found someone willing tio take $75 (including shipping w/insurance) for a working pair that look decent. Is that a good price?

Anyone else want to recomend another Surround speaker/center channel choice to go with my SDA 2A's?

$75 is an OK price if they are in good condition. Look up monitor 5 on EBAY. There are always some available. If you don't like the price/condition/location you can wait. Of course I kow how it is to want something NOW. There is always a variance depending on supply and demand as well as condition.
The last pair I got in great condition were $40 plus shipping, but I waited till there was a pair nearby at the price I wanted. I was in no hurry and watched EBAY on and off for a couple months.
    Good luck.

I found a local pair of 5jr's I may buy thru craigslist. I may go check em out this week. Ive also seen a single being offered online, If I used it as a center channel doesnt it need to be shielded since it will be so close to the TV? I wasnt sure if the 5jr's were or not.

Anyone seen a used CSi5 for sale less than $200?
