Hey guys, looking for the best used amp I can find for a pair of LSi 7s I just picked up. Preferably, I'd like to stay under $400 for it.

I have a perfect ebayer record (Refefer)

Thanks in advance.

    Welcome Refefer!

Parasound, Outlaw, Rotel, Adcom, etc. The list is endless. Check out Audiogon as well as Ebay. Also keep your eye open here in the classifieds section. But you will have to up your post count before you are eligible to post in it.

Get an amp with 200 wpc or more. That will give you plenty of power to drive the LSI 7's

+1 on cfrizz recommendations. I'd also add B&K and NAD to the short list.

I've got a Carver I can part with if you are interested. Its a Carver m1.5t. It will power those LSis nicely.

Carver and the LSi's, from my experiance, match well. I got a 4.0t driving Lsi15's in my theater. NICEY NICE!

I'm using a relatively cheap preamp, the TCC-754. Would it be worthwhile to grab an integrated instead?

Or at least what you would consider a decent preamp. No sense in wasting a good amp and a good set of speakers there with a dirtbag pre.

Don't go integrated... Separates give you so much more flexibility. Bag the power amp now; upgrade the Pre later...

The Carver 1.5t is a seriously powerful amp and sounds very good. It'll do for now. Later you may want a different SS amp, but my original 1.5t, now semi-retired, served me well for 1 dozen years or so... Call me sentimental (or just mental), but it will stay here as long as I do.

I have a B&K ST-202 that I may be willing to part with. Bought it for a 2-channel rig I'm building, but I just booked a summer trip that will put the audio purchases on hold.

Let me know if you're interested. I really like its sound (pretty warm to my ear) and very powerful for it's conservative ratings. It's 200wpc into 4ohm Lsi's. I would say 8/10, conservatively. Front face plate is flawless, and works like a charm.

Let me know. I think I could get it packaged and shipped to you for $400 (I purchased over a month ago for about the same).
Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850

My feeling is to keep 'moving on up' w/ every purchase, and get the best amp you can afford now. Then soon you'll be motivated and ready to seek out a pre that matches nicely. How bad could it be, having a killer piece of equipment waiting to blossom forth for you? Synergy, the sweet mystery. Not too easy to find, but Sim Audio used to be called Sima. I'm VERY happy w/ my PAIR of 2-channel, bridgable/bi-ampable, 125 w/ch (under-rated!) W-2002 amps (top notch SS, circa 1990's). Of course, I'm also happy to have the P-3001 preamp along with it. In the recent past, when I've considered letting one amp go (due to relocating/downsizing), I've thought $400 could maybe work.

    Food for thought, anyway. Enjoy.
