Today I won a Harman Kardon AVR-7300 on the Bay for $786 directly from Harman. This is the latest flagship from Harman and lists for $2399. This unit is a refurb but with full standard warranty and all accessories. For $786 this has to be a heck of a good value on a receiver that can do 7x110w simultaneously, high current of up to 60amp.

To me, refurb is a good thing. They have tested this unit up and down, in and out, and on top of that you get a full warranty and not just 90 days.

I am writing this because I'm seeing that they are selling quite few of these nowadays and they are all selling around $800 plus/minus a few bucks. I thought you should know. It should be a great unit to drive any polk and especially those speaks that you feel are a little bright. The Harman is slightly warm so you don't get listening fatigue as quickly. Of course, this is personal taste.

Some extra goodies from the specs:

* DCDi by Faroudja® image processing, which up converts all inputs to high-resolution component video 480p, not bad if you don't have HD tv signal...
* Mic in remote for easy HT setup at home called EzSetTM
*Weight is 69.3 lbs !!!
*Toroidal power supply.
And much much more...

If you have $800 to spend and you want the best bang for the buck, I don't think there is much out there that comes even close IMHO.

Here it is:

I remember looking at their 7000 a few years back and couldn't get it because it was so massively deep......

Good buy though......as long as they are definitely authorized reseller for the warranty.

    From auction
You are bidding on a FACTORY REMANUFACTURED Harman Kardon® AVR 7300-Z 7.1-channel home theater receiver. It comes direct from our factory, complete with the original accessories and the original factory warranty.
You should be OK. There are sellers out there who obtain products through unethical or unauthorized channels and re-sell them on EBAY. The mfr's do not support or honor warranties in these circumstances.
In many cases the serial numbers are alterred or removed to hide the origin of these units. Just something to watch out for.
Here is an explanation from denon. I'm sure all the big mfr's have similiar situations to deal with.
    WARRANTY

    WARNING TO VALUED CONSUMERS:
The warranty on DENON Electronics products is NOT VALID if the products have been purchased from an unauthorized dealer/on-line E-tailer or if the original factory serial number has been removed, defaced or replaced in any way. Recently DENON Electronics has become aware of numerous instances in which such serial number tampering has occurred. Unauthorized dealers/on-line E-tailers and/or their suppliers frequently alter the serial numbers in an effort to prevent manufacturers from tracing the supplier source. DENON Electronics sell products through authorized retail and on-line channels to insure that consumers obtain quality pre-sale and after-sale support and service. PROTECT YOUR WARRANTY. Buy from an authorized DENON Electronics dealer/E-tailer. Check the unit and its packaging to determine whether the factory serial number may have been altered. To check to see if your dealer is an authorized dealer click here or if in doubt, call DENON Electronics at (973) 396-0810. For warranty terms and conditions on New or Refurbished equipment, please select the appropriate product type.

Great deal on an outstanding receiver. Harman Audio's Ebay store (Owned and run by Harman itself) is an excellent place to get HK products. They all come with the factory warranty and if you ever have any problems with the purchase, HK will make it right.

My only gripe is that while they process orders quickly, they ship UPS ground from Arizona. It usually takes around 5-7 days to get my stuff from them.

Overall, my refurbs from HK have always appeared to be brand new and I would buy from Harman Audio anytime w/out any uncertainties.

    Mike,
The 635 that i bought looks brand new accept for the door that hides the controls on the bottom. It won't stay completely closed. I haven't worried too much about it, but in your experience, is this something that harman would take care of, or would they consider it 'minor cosmetic damage'? Guess I could call them instead of being lazy.

I have the 7300 and think it's awesome. I'm running LSi 7's and LSiC across the front and am very happy with it. While many say you need an external amp to make them sound their best, I think they are very good with both music and HT. I'd love to hear the LSi's with an external amp to see what I'm missing:D

I'm not real happy with the EzSet, but I have used the manual SPL and am satisfied with the results. As mentioned earlier, the unit is very heavy and very deep. Make sure you have room for it with plenty of ventilation and it's a GREAT deal for $800.

Good question. I would give them a call and tell them your situation. They might have some trick to help keep the door shut or better yet, they might send you a replacement part.

Since it is cosmetic and does not affect the product's performance, they might be hesistant to exchange the 635.

    Good luck

YES! I received my 7300 today...less than 48 hrs after winning the auction. Wow! I do live in AZ and they do ship from here, but less than two days processing and ground shipping is pretty darn good.

The unit looks to be in as new condition. Can't see any cosmetic problems. The S/N number is in perfect shape as well. All speaker posts were solid and tight, all accessories included and the remote seems to be unused, batteries still separate in plastic wrapping.

Haven't listened to it yet as I haven't picked up my SDA's from SIG-1, but will on Saturday.

    I am very pleased.

NOTE. I ended up paying state taxes on the unit....$90...but still a good deal IMO.

Let us know how it sounds! I'm interested in your opionion of the EasyEQ (or whatever it's called)

I thought it did a good job balancing sound levels amoung the speakers, but sounded very bright after I ran it. I have the sub +4 from where the EasyEQ set it now.

After spending some time listening I love the sound. Slightly bright (they are RTi70's though), but really growing on me. The more I listen the more I notice the imaging and clarity. ...love it.
