Hi All,

A pair of Monitors have come up for sale. All these say is "Monitor Series 2". Apparently there are no other markings on the speaker. Can someone tell me which model these are. I'd like to find out what drivers they use.

Thanks.

Do you haave any other specs? such as number of drivers, or the size of the passive radiator if it has one?

Pretty much all of the original Monitor lineup has a "series 2" model
    Ludicrous gibs!

in the monitor series.. I don't think there were many that were series 2. So just a guess here.. but I would take a guess they are probably Monitor 10 series 2

+1 on the Monitor 5. Bottom driver is not large enough for the 7.
Here is Monitor 5 original series product link.

Nice. Not as much bass as from 7's or 10's but they will play clearly at well over their rated 100 watts with good clean power.

I bouht a pair of 5's new when I was in high school. They were great speakers. Someone stole them out of my college dorm room.

I'd buy another pair if the opportunity arose.

5's and 5Jr's are frequently for sale on Ebay at reasonable prices. Not too hard to ship either if the packager knows what they are doing and boxes separately.

According to www.polksda.com the Monitor 5 Series 2 speakers sold for between $100 - $150 on eBay. Are these prices correct for current market?

That is ballpark correct, but a little high for recent activity. Probably can be found on EBAY in the $50-100 range plus shipping in many cases if you keep your eyes peeled. Sometimes a tad less.

Actually on the 5jr's that used the radiator, the radiator was the same size as the driver. I have a pair. Looking at the pic you can see the passive radiator is slightly larger than the mid driver, which was the configuration of the 5's.

Yep, look exactly like my monitor 5's except I've got the dark wood finish. They've blown me away and I'm always keeping an eye out for a local set of 10's.
