Three way or two way?
i dont know if anyone has ever posted a thread on this but here goes, is there audibly a difference between a two way design speacker and a three way design aside form the three way being more difficult to make and more expensive to make. i have personally never own a three way designed speacker so i just dont know if there is a difference at all. this is just useless info i'd like to know.
i am getting the Rti8 soon and dont have the proper equipment for now to drive it, this being ONKYO 501e. are there any precaution i need to take so as not to Damage the speacker while saving for better gear? (if i am asking a stupid question here please ignore me.)
the sales man suggested the ONKYO 603 for the Rti8's does anyone have any other brands they can suggest. Something that sounds clean, but good low end as well.

Regarding 2-way vs. 3-way, it depends on the particular design. Performance and one's personal sound preference can be all over the map for both types.
Regarding receivers, Harmon Kardon and Denon are good recos for the RTi line. I recommend getting a receiver with pre-outs for all channels in case you want to upgrade to external amps for better sound. The Onkyo 603 lacks pre-outs.
Here are some good prices on Harmon Kardon refurbs:

FWIW - The RTi8 is a 2 way, it just runs 2 woofs together.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

What is the diff on 2 -3 way?
-
crossover mostly.
In general...
Most 3-ways have a tweet, midrange, and midbass...
Or a tweet, midbass, woofer - or tweet, midrange, woofer.
In other words, there is 3 crossover points.
I would take a 2 way over a 3 way, just because the crossover is so important, the 2 way should be the better speaker, within the same line.
Polk mostly makes 2.5 ways.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
3-Ways could get messy....
-
Man aint that the truth!
Have you heard them old POS rack system speakers, Pioneer, JVC made some. KLH came out with a few...
I think the midrange just played something, completely overlapping into the tweeter and woofer range, horrible sounding stuff...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I have RTi70's that sound fantastic being driven by my HK AVR-635. I have never heard a Denon in a setup similar to mine, but can definately say you should give the AVR-635 a listen. Fry's electronics usually has RTi8's hooked up to an HK 635 if you have a Fry's nearby.HT

WOuld the Denon 1906(not sure if this model number is correct) be sufficient for the Rti8 or would i need to go with the model above this. i know the 1906 has pre outs. Would i need to stick within the same brand for the power amp when i later decide to upgrade or is it okay for me to use a different brand?(((((STEREO)))))
