Front main (fronts) are tower speakers really better than bookshelves? Cuz I'm telling you what I have my Monitor 40's in place of where my old Pioneer CS-G9001's were and for fronts I think they sound a whole hell of a lot better actually. I have my Pioneer's bi-wired off my Monitor 40's placed behind my couch using them as subwoofers. I was thinking about getting LSi 25's for fronts but now I'm thinking about saving my money more for LSi 9's or 7's for front speakers. What do you guys think?
CURRENT SYSTEM:

(Surround) Paradigm Cinema ADP [Dipole] (On top of Polk Audio Monitor 40)
(Subs) Pioneer CS-G9001 (Bi-wired with Fronts subwoofers only working layed down up against back of couch)
Monster Fiber Optic Cable (DVD Player to Receiver), Monster speaker wire

you have a lot to learn my friend. Bi-wiring your pioneers off the fronts? That doesn't make a lick of sense. What you're doing is running speakers in parallel (car audio will get you acclimated to this real fast) and lowering the impedence to a point that most receivers don't like.

Now to actually answer your lil question here, towers can sound better than bookshelves. Bookshelves can sound better than towers. It depends on many different things. Quality of drivers are 10000 times more important than style of cabinet (meaning big towers or smaller bookshelves). You can take a cheap speaker that's big and a high end small speaker and you'll like the smaller. Is it because it's small? Nope. Now it also depends on your equipment, your personal tastes, etc.

BTW, brett talks **** because you're annoying people with beyond newbie questions without really wanting to listen.
Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

yea, dont run speakers in parallel. That will reduce the impedance to low. Do a search on the forum for lsi7 lsi9 and lsi25. each speaker has its good and bad features. i like the lsi9 the best
    Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
    Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
    Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture.

Personally, If had a choice of either Lsi15 or Lsi9 fronts, I'd get the 15's. I prefer tower fronts because I have a large listening room and like my music at high levels; there's no replacement for displacement. I don't like the way most bookshelves begin to "collapse/compress" the soundstage at high volumes, and I don't like running a sub to fill-in the bass.

I really like my LSI-25's. Yeah the powered subwoofers can get a little mushy if you don't have them set right, but they're good for the price without needing to buy a subwoofer to start. Of course you can always get a separate sub later.
