I'm always looking to expand my music....

So, in your Expert opinion, what is the best of the best top 10 CD's?

U2- The Best of 1990-2000
Van Morrison- The Best of Vol II
Rusted Root- When I Woke (lots of drumming here)
Santana- Welcome (this cd is trancending, especially "Mother Africa"
Peter Gabriel- Hit (Blood of Eden is the best song on there)
Sara McLauchlan- AfterGlow Live
Cat Stevens- The Very Best of
Rush- Permanent Waves
Bob Marley- Legend

ED, I hope that you're looking to expand into the world of great classical music that's waiting out there for you. A top ten list can't cover all the possibilities, but let me suggest The Planets , Swan Lake , Symphonic Dances , Daphnis et Chloe , Scheherazade , Hungarian Dances , Ma Vlast , Roman Festivals , Slavonic Dances , and a Gershwin Collection .

Matter of fact I have been interested in checking out some classical music. I listen to several of the ones you listed and liked the Symphonic Dances cd so far.

I really like the power of drums & bass- can you recommend some classical music that fits the bill?

If you mean that you listened to some of the samples on the Tower Records site, that's good, but you really can't get much of an idea about a piece of classical music from samples that are that short. The music can change entirely, e.g. from gentle to violent, at any moment. Among the ones listed, The Planets has quite a few vigorous moments, as do the Roman Festivals, but everything was listed because it's colorful music that should appeal to most. They're reasonably priced and I'd encourage you to try them.
