hey guys! i need some advice on a four speakers system and an amp for a pontoon boat. i've got a boss mr1515 stereo and was thinking about adding four mmc 650 and a amp. also the speakers will be mounted at the base of the seats. does this sound like a good set up so far? will the mmc650 sound good with the seats acting as a box? what is the smallest, most affective amp i should run? will i be able to run one battery? thanks for any help! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The MMC650's are made mainly to be slapped into a car door which is infinite baffle or free air so they will work just fine without an enclosure and theyre marine certified so theyll hold up to the elements.
As for the amp, the 650's are rated at 80 watts RMS so find something in that ballpark. Which one depends on your budget. You can choose anything from this Profile 80x4 for $150 all the way up to the Polk 400.4 for $400.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Baby,
Trust me when I say you will NOT be dissapointed in Polk Audio. I run four of
the MMC650's in my 23' Stingray Sportboat and they sound phenominal. I
don't even have my dual 10" Polk Momo subs in yet but I can't wait till I do
And the nice thing about the Momo's are that they are a marine certified
speaker they will hold up.. And they will sound lightyears better than the
other "marine" speakers (plus look better too!) -
I just purchased two wake tower enclosurers loaded with polk MMC650's. I am looking to install an amp that can not only handle these two MMC650's but also a polk momo 10" Sub. Any suggestions on which amp would be best. I have been told by several people to only buy an amp with a coated circuit board for marine use. Is this true or can any amp stand up to the marine conditions. The boat will only be used in fresh water. and the amp would be installed below the passanger console.

Red230sx what amp are you running ith the mmc650's? I aqm thinking of getting 4 of these for my boat and the Clarion marine amp apx480m seems to match up good at 80 watts rms. The only thing if i get a sub i would have to have another amp. I do not want deep rap music bass as i do not care for it but i wouldn't mind a smooth good bass with a small sub and small amp running with 4 of these mmc650's. Did you ever get a sub and what amp do you use on your boat?
blobue, have you looked at Clarion or Bazooka marine amps? -
KyLake,
I run my mmc650's off of a Kicker 700.5 five channel. It will also run my dual
10" Momo subs when I figure out where I am mounting them. -

I just bought 2 pair of DB691s for my pontoon. Is there anything I should do to protect these speakers? I want to mount them at the base of the seats on the front and back of the boat. The storage compartment of the seats will act as the box for the speaker. Is there any special consideration I need to allow for the front of the speakers. Is rain, sun and humidity going to ruin my gear?? I read what the owners manuel said about being marine certified, anyone able to help put my concerns to rest with personal experience>???
Thanks,
Mark Concerned
