People at the Theater

I think that you won't see theaters go away, instead I think they will evlove with the times. You will have less screens, higher quality sound and picture and better customer service. Seeing it in Seattle already. Paul Allen's Cinerama for example. One HUGE screen, phenomenal sound and they are **** about cell phones. Also a lot of big movies have been coming out in IMAX, which totally kicks ****. So is the cinema going to die out? Maybe the version we know, but it will come back better and stronger.There are two ways to argue with women. Both of them are wrong.

I think you will see alot of "motion" theaters in the future. Theaters like at the amusement parks where there are hydrolics that make you feel like you are moving.
I see this as the new movie viewing experience comming soon. it won't be everwhere but it will be available.Skynut

i swear to effin god... i can see everyone has colorful words when it comes to this subject. you are not alone.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
haven't gone to the theater in YEARS. like 7+ years. went tonight. sure enough out of the whole gdamn theater me and my family have the **** sit right behind us. jibber-jabber away. non-stop. dude was hella smaller than me so i didn't feel the need to "prove myself" to him, but i damn well should have. he was definately of age. but he and his trashy mom (i assume, otherwise yuck!) just yackin' away as if they were in their own gdamn livingroom. i turned around and stared at the dude to no avail. i was about to get midieval on his ****, but for some reason i was afraid everyone else in the theater would be mad AT ME?? so i sat through the entire movie. was my baby-momma's bday and it ruined the movie for her as well.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
i waited until the movie was over, invited the fella to accompany me to the parking lot and of course he declined. the entire ordeal went down as though they purposefully antagonize patrons to the point they DO hit the fella and then they cry "murder" and sue you in court for all that you own.
this, THIS is the reason i am so in love and even in LUST with my polk audio home theater setup. not to mention i can squeeze the lemon after hitting pause. i was like a waterballoon at the threshold of explosion. and i didn't want to walk across and entire row. we sat smack-dab in the center of the screen, just behind the center of the theater. i wasn't getting up for nothin'. so, ANY given day i'll take my setup over going out to the movies. i'm just about to proclaim...."NEVER AGAIN!" to going in the future. why do a few have to ruin it for many?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I hear ya bro.. i went to see Harry Potter this weekend.. while I didn't have any talkers around me. i had the continually kicking of the back of my chair. finally got up and moved to the very last row in the back of the theater. much more pleasant.
they should have two movie theaters.. 1 for cool people who want to hear and watch the movie and BEHAVE themselves.
and another theater for those people who were born under a rock and have the manners of a caveman. where they can talk, kick the seat in front of them.. and put their feet up on the seat back in front of them.. and talk on their cell phones.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Couldn't agree more. Personally I've sometimes taken the 'lower' road though and just end up calling that person out, to the point where I'll challenge him to step outside. It's gotten better though, but I can only tolerate stupid inconsiderate people so much. Do I still go out to the movies? Once in a blue moon, but hey its why we invested so much in our HT isn't it?Truck setup

i made a damn good point to explain to my kids that they are to never ever, ever turn out like these scumbags. and yeah, didn't find out until the drive home my older son told me the woman had her stink-**** feet resting right beside his head. i asked why he didn't tell us and the reason he didn't is because he IS RESPECTFUL and figured it must be okay since AN ADULT was doing it. i told him hell the eff NO!!!
i haven't been this pissed since like two days ago. (comes with the territory concerning me:o) anyway, tomorrow i'll make it up to all of us by purchasing a new blu-ray and watching it as it was meant to be watched.

Ya know, theaters should install some sort of communication device so that you don't have to leave the movie to hail the attention of a manager to get some **** to shut up or leave. Just press a button (like in a hospital room) and somebody at the theater will be summoned.
Great idea! A button that you can use to get a 19 year old theater worker shot in the chest by some lowlife. -
I quit going for a long time because of all the aholes. I spend a considerable amount of money on my 7.1 setup trying to recreate that theater sound. Because I do not have a dedicated HT room I just can't recreate that butt shakin bass that you get in a big theater. I have started to go to the big summer block busters again with my nephew to see movies like the Wathcmen, and Transformers and the sound is so loud most people are quiet. In the past I have found when someone is talking that yelling "shut the F***" up" can be very usefull, but in this day and age you might get shot.
Oh well, at least I have Netflix.My journey: http://www.1414audio.com/ -
I always enjoy sitting down in an empty or near empty theater, and someone comes in after me and sits either right in front of me, or right behind me.
I also enjoy going deaf because the 16 year old kid working there has the volume cranked way too high. Or listening to the soundtrack or the exposions from the movie in the theater next to mine. Or the disgusting popcorn that is popped off-site, trucked into the theater, and dumped out of large Rubbermaid tubs in the popcorn holding area. Then some kid not wearing gloves scoops it out of there and hands in to me. Then I have to put me own "buttery topping" on, and then discover they don't even leave the proper popcorn salt out...just garlic and nacho cheese flavored salt. WTF...does anyone really like that on popcorn?
I need to stop typing now, as my keyboard has caught fire.... -
For some strange reason, the last 3 times i've gone to the movies, my girlfriend and i were LITERALLY the only people in the showing. And these weren't OLD movies... been out for about 2 weeks.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I've seen quite a bit of reference to stupid, inconsiderate people encountered at the theater in other posts, so I thought I would dedicate a thread to it. My bet is that just about EVERYBODY has at least one or two stories to tell. Here's one of mine:
While seeing The Village with a buddy (I thought the movie sucked but didn't know it at the time, of course), some stupid **** pulls out a cell phone in the middle of the movie and starts yacking away, while her friends sitting by are yacking and laughing as well. Effin' people! If you're not there to see the movie, save your bucks and quit bugging other people trying to watch it! I walked out of the theater and one of the theater employees said "Hope you enjoyed the show!" I said, "It was the worst movie-going experience I've ever had" and just kept on walking out of the theater.
Ya know, theaters should install some sort of communication device so that you don't have to leave the movie to hail the attention of a manager to get some **** to shut up or leave. Just press a button (like in a hospital room) and somebody at the theater will be summoned.
All other stories are welcome!
you should have gotten free pass for next time. they usuually give out when ur not satisifed.
yes i hate when people keep on checking their cell phone whole movie. make me want to pour my drink over and say motherfu--er!!I am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding!

yeah, there was another chick down front that didn't talk, but kept her phone up high, enough to be a distraction to many toward the end of the movie. i WISH i had my laser pointer on me. i woulda shined that beam right at her phone and it would have reflected back into her eyes. not enough to hurt her, but she woulda been seeing red lines everytime she blinked instead of seeing the actors on screen.

A trick to help avoid these types of a-holes. Wait until the film has been out for several weeks and the crowds have died off, go first showing, early in the morning in the middle of the week. It's what I do and I have yet to have any issues in several years.If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
i go monday or tuesday early the frist feature very few people, i still like watching my own home theater system a lot better

people like that made me buying blu-ray

I normally go to the first showing on Sunday, when everyone is still in church. Great time for us heathens to catch a movie with a small crowd.

But if I'm being honest, the way people act in theaters is why I've spent so much time and money making sure my home theater is set to reference standards. That's why I've checked everything with a SPL meter and RTA, and tweaked the sound to reproduce the correct theatrical mix in my home. It's also why I bought a colorimeter and tweaked my projector to D65 cinema standards. And dammit, I can watch a movie in my underwear while grilling a steak and not even get arrested!
