Hello,
Been awhile since I posted anything but I have to tell someone. And you people are great listeners and give AWSOME strait up advice and opinions. Well I ordered a week ago a Parasound Halo C2 controller and an A51 amp. They should be arriveing sometime this week and I can not wait. This should make my Rti10's sound awsome. I'm alittle concerned about the Fxi3's to see if they will be alright. I think the Csi5 can hanle the power of the A51. My question is though ,I am still confused as to what ohms my 10's are. I have been told they are 4 ohm and 8 ohm wich is right. The owners manual for them says compatable with 8 ohm outputs. Their was a discussion on one of these threads about the Denon recievers not being good for Polk speakers because they dont have 4 ohm ratings and Denon did not reccomend them for the 4 ohm. Tried to find that thread but was unsuccessfull. Any answers please. Also what type of and brand speaker wire would you reccomend. I have Monster XP right now but dont know if this is good enough. What sub would you reccomend besides SVS they are great but what about Velodyne or Martin Logan subs and if so wich ones. I want to keep upgradeing untill I get what I want. What do you guys feel about the Rti 10 compred to the 12 might upgrade to them. Well thanks and have a GOOD NIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!

Nice choices. None of those speakers will be harmed by the use of the Parasound A51.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I agree with my esteemed colleague... It's not that you couldn't hurt your speakers, if you tried, you could, but if there's even a trace of common sense in your noggin, your speakers are safe.
Your RTi 10's are 8-ohm (look here). The 4-ohm discussion you mention was almost certainly about the LSi series... Besides your Halo separates aren't exactly the same as a Denon AVR.
As for the rest... slow down... relax and enjoy your new line-up. Plenty of time down the road for wire and subs and...More later,

I think this is the thread you are referring to over on AVS Forums. Not sure what just hooking up a VOM to a speaker really means since resistance will vary over the frequency range.

However with the Halo equipment you don't have to worry whether they are 4 or 8 ohm. The A51 can handle it! As you are going to have my dream system please do post back how the RTi-10s sound with the Halo for movies and music. I have not heard the RTi-12 but would imagine with the front end you are getting they would sound great.
I have not heard any Velodyne or Martin Logan subs but in Velodyne I like the Digital drive series for the built in room EQ, maybe a DD-12 or DD-15. In Martin Logan I like the Descent. I want the SMS-1 for the sub EQ on my SVS.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

Received my new Parasound C2 and A51 amp Thursday , have not set it up yet cannot wait to. The wife and I ordered new carpet may have to wait for that to be installed, they said it will be three weeks, dont know if can wait that long to set up. But also dont wanna set up the stand and get it all set up and calibrated to just have to take it all down and do it all over again. Trying to figure out an easy way to do it. I may mess around with it tomorrow not sure will have to see. Any suggestions let me know, I wanna hear this stuff.TV- 52 inch LCD SONY BRAVIA XBR6

That amp should really be a nice addition to your setup. I think you will be surprised how good the Rti's can sound with clean power. Don't worry about "overpowering" your speakers, just make sure you calibrate all levels accordingly and never play them so loud that you hear any audible distortion. Also, the NOMINAL ohm rating on the speakers is 8...however, many frequencies may cause that to change. resistance is variable throughout the entire frequency spectrum, but your amp will have no problems with the loads it will see.
Congrats on the purchase and I can't wait to hear your impressions of the setup.

I would reccomend the martin logan depth sub. It has 3 drivers in a very compact cabinet and some very nice adjustable settings on it to really "tune" it to your system. For the money I think the svs subs are still the best, but I have to say that I really liked the sound from the martin logan. The velodyne subs are alright, but you could go with an svs and velodynes sms-1 for about the same money and have a much better setup, imo.

Hey guys whats up. Well I set up my new C2 and A51 amp. Still have not set any of the parmeters or calibrate it yey. I am trying to deail wth one problem first. I hooked the C2 and the A51 useing five balanced XLR wires through the balanced ports. Then hooked up the speakers useing 14 gauge wire. Next I hooked my DVD player useing the component video out of the DVD player to the component vidoe inputs on the C2 controller Then I did the same thing with my digital cable box. Next I hooked the C2 component video output to my TV's component video inputs.the problem is I get sound but no picture. I am selecting the correct input on the TV but still only sound no picture. i would really like to play with this and see how this BAD BOY is going to sound, but this is driving me crazy. It is taking to long to get this set up.I would like to thank you all in advance for any help with this. And thanks for wondering how I was making out. well have a GREAT day or a GOOD night.TV- 52 inch LCD SONY BRAVIA XBR6

Amulford, Thanks for the advice. If I had read the manual alittle further that came with the C2 I would have known you had to turn the output on from the controller. Well any way it is hooked up and I have a picture. A friend of mine who is into Home Theater and sells the stuff came up and he solved the problem for me. Well we calibrated my system alittle playing with alot of settings and man what a difference from the RTi10's with some power behind them. It sounds like a tottally different system. We are going to do some more calibrating with some fancy four mic calibrating system he has. Dont know how it works will find out however. The C2 comes with a mic for calibration like many other systems and says the unit will calibrate itself. Does anyone have any experience with doing this with any system and if so how did it work and most important how did it sound. The only thing hurting my system still is my sub. But with all the money I have been putting into this between the amp and contoller and all the new cables and wires, I might be pushing my luck asking my wife if I can spend $1500.00 to $2500.00 on a sub. So I will deal with my sony 12" sub for now. Well have a GREAT DAY and thanks for all the help.TV- 52 inch LCD SONY BRAVIA XBR6
