I should probably post this in Music & Movies too.
First, I apologize for the 9/11 post 2 weeks ago. What I thought might have been interesting turned into a ****-throwing contest, and that's clearly NOT what I believe this forum is about. I should've read Rule#2 more closely! And for those who will say WGAS, fine; I do. The mea culpa still goes.
If this idea isn't new here, OK. But I did look around pretty extensively and found nothing on the subject, so here goes.
If you're interested in DVD rentals, check out some local public libraries. The library where I live has about 900-1000 DVD titles, and they always add more as the budget allows. Ours has a max 6-at-a-time/ one week loan policy. And the list of DVDs they have, while not exactly BBuster, ain't bad when you consider the cost--$0. I love the idea of this, especially if you're on the fence about seeing a particular movie. If you don't like it, nothing lost. The only downside of library rental is if a particular title you want is out, you're SOL if you didn't reserve it beforehand. Still, it's a pretty decent alternative to renting or Netfl**. IMHO. BTW, I live in Eastern LI, New York, and the
Suffolk Library system is county-wide.

So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

i also lived in eastern li a few years back. now in the city. my folks still live up there - ronkonkoma. the reason why suffolk libraries are so good is because the taxes are so high. i have been to libraries in other counties and they are worthless as far as digital media is concerned.
