Yamaha receivers

How do you feel about a Yamaha RX-V2600 receiver for an RTi 12 series with an additional amp for my fronts and then bi-amp my fronts. I'm just wondering how you all feel about Yamaha receivers over Onkyo or Denon cuz I'm pretty stuck on those two and probably more about Denon. I'm either convinced with an Onkyo TX-SR803, Denon AVR-3806 or Yamaha RX-V2600 or Yamaha RX-V4600. But whatever I decide I still need a 2 channel amp cuz I'm gonna bi-amp my RTi 12's and that's why I need a reciever instead of doing a pre/pro & amp. I'm wanting an amp to push about 250 watts to the 3 7" woofers and about a 100 watts to the mids and tweeter, which all 4 of those receivers would do with no problem. The thing about the Yamaha that's making me lean more to is the Yamaha's receivers have a lower THD % than any other receiver that I know of which is why I'm thinking about the RX-V4600 which with the other amplifiers they'll be able to properly push my dipole surrounds (which are 125 watts).

Can somebody help me decide with the better receiver?
And decide with a really good amp just for my bi-amping RTi 12 fronts?

if you can or haven't already.. go demo the Denon and Yammies... then decide. if it were me.. i'd go with the Denon 3806 and be very happy with it. I've heard the Denon and have been impressed.

A lot of people complain that the combo of RTI's & Yamaha makes for a very bright sound. If you like bright sound great. If not, go with the Denon.

What do you mean by "bright" sound?

Both brands are great. Denon and Yamaha. 3806 and 2600. Listen both and decide for your ears. Yamaha have more bright sound (i love that :D) That's the reason i bought RX-V657 over Denon AVR 1906. (for watch movies, thanks to the DSP configurations...the performance on the Yamaha is better ;) )

The highs from the tweeter are very harsh & in your face. Denon tames them some.

I'm not a fan of Yammy cause they bloat their power specs. They measure 2 channel power and then say "jeez, let's put that power output for all 5,6,7 channels". Unfortunately, when you power all of the channels, the power supply is pretty weak and the power drops a lot per channel. From what I remember, Denon has much better specs.

From what I've seen, you usually get more features with a Yammy, but you get not so great power and sound.

So does Denon and Onkyo, and just about every manufacturer out there. I know HK and Marantz are two exceptions.

I have never been happier than the day I bought my HK and brought my yammie to the bedroom. I think the Rtis and HK are a match made in audio heaven.

I have had my Yamaha about nine years and it works flawlessly. It has two sub preouts, 4 ohm speaker switch, and plenty of power. I had it driving my Lsi 25's for a year before adding a separate amp, and it sounds great with that, too. I think the new ones have even more power and the features and reliability are second to none. How bout dat!:D

I like Yamaha. I have both a Yamaha DSP-A1 and a Denon 3805. I've had the A1 since 1998 and bought the 3805 about 2 yrs ago. I bought the 3805 because I wanted the newer features it offered and I use it in my main system although I prefer the sound of the Yamaha. I use the Yamaha more in my 2 channel setup. The A1 was a flagship model so it should be a better performer than the lower tier models but I think the sound characteristics are similiar across the Yamaha line. Before the A1 I had a Yamaha DSP-A1000 which was their flagship model from the early '90's.

Both lines are good and in my opinion you should check out both brands to see how they sound to you as well as compare features to see which one offers things that are important to you.
