I picked up a pair of Walsh 4's yesterday. Very good condition and cheap. The right speaker does have some buzzing at higher volume but I knew that before I bought them. Given the high resale value of these I can afford to get it fixed. I like their retro look as well. Can anyone tell me what problems to look for? I'm not at all familiar with the Walsh line. Thanks.

Keep them several feet away from ANY wall and have lots of power, as they aren't known for their efficiency. Really cool speakers. I had a set of the 2s for several months and those issues were what I found to be true. It actually can get pretty expensive to repair if I remember correctly.

I have a 200 watt per channel Adcom so power isn't an issue. I only have $135 into them and cosmetically they are very nice. Too good a deal to pass up even with the issues.

I have Noel's Ohm Walsh 2's. I don't know if you have found this yet, but here is a link for their website. You can get parts from them.

Neat design and good sound. I have them doing shop rig duty. Whats nice is I can be all over and still get good imaging. Plus they fill the room very well.

audiokarma.com is a good source as well. There are a few Walsh series lovers over there...

Thanks Tour. I'm an AK member as well but I like to get feedback from a variety of sources. I received an email from Ohm and it looks like it will cost about $250 to bring them back. Not a bad investment considering their overall conditon.

It could be that the foam surround has begun to dry rot. This is typical of all polyfoam and butyl surround woofers. You can send to The Speaker Exchange
for refoaming. If there is more damage than just the surround dry rot, then The Speaker Exchange can recone the woofers instead.
