Converting record collection

I am going to convert the best of my LPs to WAVs for CDs and some mp3 as well. Have an decent old TT and just ordered a new cartridge.

Am considering the new USB TT by ION and NUMARK. Do any of you have any experience with either? I was told the input via USB would be superior to that via sound card. Any truth or just sales pitch?

Multiple questions - hope some of you have tried this - look forward to your responses.

NUMARK tends to be for scratching (DJs), but I can't say how it would work as a day to day TT.

I use an HK CD Recorder that has analog inputs/ AD converter. Get fairly decent results. Probably better than the limitations of a Wav file. Changes tracks between songs, etc. Hit play on TT and record on CD and its done.

Don't have any personal experience with this but thought it might be of interest.

Check out the demo video. Seems pretty cool.

Personally I use a Yamaha CDR-HD1300 via analog inputs. I'm very happy with the results.

My brother just purchased one of these and has had a chance to mess with it a little bit and he says it works suprisingly well. Much better than he expected.

Thanks for the input, especially the ikey stuff (unknown comodity until now). I've decided against the USB TT as no conclusive evidence to support the theory of superiority. Will rely on good old analog Technics TT to preamp to sound card then cleanup with software to taste.

Must admit I had forgotten about much of the music I unboxed today moving albums around. Look forward to some music I've not heard for over 20+ years.

Technology is cool now-a-days but underdash 8 tracks and vinyl records were a big part of my growing up.
