Cable Management

The age old issue around cable management - how do we address them?

We all have great speakers. electronics and even cables - but the yards and yards of cables are what spoils everything!

A few things that have worked for me so far have been:

1) Using a lot of cable ties

2) Using the shortest possible cables/ wires that you need to

3) Artificial trees/plants seem to do a pretty good job of hiding cables (after you've tied them up with cable ties)

This seems to be a useful site:

Question - how can you run wires along the wall without having to have something permenent on the wall itself? I mean there are wire ducts etc. - but is there something that's available that doesn't need to be fixed to the wall?

I'm proud of my cables, I like to show them off.

Nice job. But your speaker wire should not be coiled up like you have done. It creates inductance, not real good. If you can't use exact length, minimum diameter should be 2 feet, IIRC.

Some of us folks have more than 2 pairs of cables....HT gets to be a mess.

Crazy - I've used that site for trim pieces on a couple HT installs. I use generic velcro for behind the scenes management.

Yep, velcro works great. The biggest issue I have is keeping power cords away from everything else.

    Thanks for the tips folks.

RuSsMan, dorokosai - could you post some picture of how you've used velcro for behind the scenes management?

As Russman mentioned previously...I also try and route my power cables away from signal interconnects when at al possible.

In the 2CH rig, I run them inside the legs of the stand, down to the power strip. I use custom lengths for the HT so I don't have any excess cable, and simply velcro the power cables together and ensure they aren't in contact with any signal IC's.
