So a co-worker ushered me outside to take a look in her trunk (please refrain...), said her and the husband were doing some spring cleaning and thought I might find some use for an integrated stereo amp that was just taking up space in their attic. It's a Yamaha A-1020, and about the only info I've been able unearth is that it hails from the mid-80's and runs anywhere from 120 to 135 wpc. Anybody familiar with this piece of equipment?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. Not familiar with it, but I'd say that Yamaha amplification from the 80's is a lot more desirable than their current amplification.

I would agree on the older yamaha stuff. I had an integrated Yamaha Dolby Pro-logic A1000 that I purchased in 92'. It was only rated for 35W/ch but worked well powering reasonable surrounds. This was one of the first 7 channel prologic receivers and was very nice while I had it. I sold it on fleabay last fall.

That Yamaha is a nice unit, free or not. Screw the haters who don't know what they are talking about. Would benefit from a re-cap job of course but to get an amp of that quality today would cost close to $1K. It has the ability to run in true Class A and also has a nice MC Phono amp. Enjoy it.
